Environmental Technician
Job Description
The Environmental Technician performs hands-on environmental remediation and industrial cleaning at local commercial, industrial, and federal sites. This role focuses on environmental cleanup, hazardous material handling, waste removal, and facility decontamination while strictly following safety regulations and established procedures. You will support emergency response projects, hazardous waste cleanup, spill response, demolition support, tank cleanouts, confined space work, and environmental restoration activities in a variety of industrial settings.
Responsibilities- Perform environmental cleanup and remediation of hazardous and non-hazardous waste materials at commercial, industrial, and federal sites.
- Assist with containment, removal, and proper disposal of contaminated soil, liquids, sludge, debris, and industrial waste in accordance with regulatory and company standards.
- Clean and decontaminate manufacturing facilities, warehouses, plants, refineries, power plants, and other industrial locations.
- Support emergency spill response activities involving chemicals, fuels, solvents, and other hazardous substances, including work on short notice when required.
- Conduct industrial cleaning using pressure washers, vacuum trucks, pumps, and other specialized remediation and decontamination equipment.
- Handle hazardous materials and hazardous waste safely, following OSHA, HAZWOPER, and company safety procedures.
- Assist with asbestos, lead, mold, and other regulated material abatement projects when properly trained and certified.
- Support demolition activities and tank cleanouts as part of broader remediation and restoration projects.
- Perform confined space work when authorized and trained, including entry and recognition in compliance with safety protocols.
- Follow all safety guidelines, wear required personal protective equipment, and participate in respiratory protection practices and training.
- Drive your own vehicle to assigned sites and report ready for field work; no extended travel is required beyond local site visits.
- Maintain a clean, organized work area and ensure tools, equipment, and vehicles are used and maintained safely and correctly.
- Communicate effectively with project teams and supervisors to ensure work is completed accurately, safely, and on schedule.
- 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification is required.
- 2–5 years of experience working as an environmental technician or in a closely related role such as environmental remediation, hazardous waste handling, industrial cleaning, construction, demolition, or emergency response.
- Demonstrated experience working safely in industrial environments where hazardous materials and hazardous waste may be present.
- Ability to perform physically demanding field work, including frequent standing, bending, climbing, lifting, and working in confined spaces.
- Strong understanding of environmental cleanup and remediation practices for hazardous and non-hazardous materials.
- Familiarity with hazardous material handling procedures and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Ability to use industrial cleaning and remediation equipment such as pressure washers, vacuum trucks, pumps, and related tools.
- Commitment to safety, including strict adherence to OSHA regulations, company procedures, and use of personal protective equipment.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to drive own vehicle to job sites.
- Lead Awareness training is preferred.
- Confined Space Entry Certification is preferred.
- Respiratory Protection Training is preferred.
- Experience with forklift, skid steer, or other heavy equipment is beneficial.
- Background in construction, demolition, or industrial facility work is an asset.
- Experience supporting emergency response, spill cleanup, and environmental restoration projects is advantageous.
- Ability to work in noisy, dusty, and chemically exposed environments and in varying weather conditions.
- Comfort working in refineries, power plants, chemical plants, manufacturing plants, and other industrial facilities.

Work EnvironmentWork takes place at industrial facilities, chemical plants, manufacturing plants, refineries, power plants, and various remediation sites. The role involves regular exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, and changing weather conditions. You will frequently stand, bend, climb, lift, and work in confined spaces while wearing appropriate protective equipment such as respirators, coveralls, gloves, and other PPE. Emergency response work may be required on short notice. You will drive your own vehicle to local sites, and there is no extended travel beyond these site visits.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Moncks Corner, SC.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $28.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
