Job Description

The Quality Inspector evaluates damaged or worn airframe components, researches technical data to support repair decisions, and ensures all work complies with regulatory and company standards. This role performs detailed inspections of completed airframe work, prepares and signs FAA/EASA Return to Service documentation, and supports engineers with technical information for repairs outside of approved data when required. The position contributes directly to the safety, reliability, and airworthiness of aircraft structures within a certified repair facility.

Responsibilities

  • Assess the condition of received damaged or worn airframe components and accurately record findings in the repair database.
  • Research and interpret technical data, including maintenance manuals, engineering drawings, and other approved sources, to support repair decisions.
  • Perform thorough inspections of completed airframe work to verify compliance with maintenance data, engineering requirements, and regulatory standards.
  • Prepare, complete, and execute FAA/EASA Return to Service documentation in accordance with applicable regulations and internal procedures.
  • Provide detailed technical information and feedback to engineers to support the development of repairs that fall outside existing approved data.
  • Ensure all inspection and repair actions comply with company procedures and FAA regulations, including FAR Part 145 and Part 43 requirements.
  • Use appropriate inspection tools and equipment to perform precise measurements and evaluations of airframe components.
  • Document inspection results, technical findings, and corrective actions clearly and accurately for traceability and regulatory compliance.
  • Communicate effectively with technicians, engineers, and other team members to resolve issues and support efficient workflow.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support overall repair station operations and continuous improvement.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience performing quality inspections in an aviation or MRO environment.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience with civilian airframe maintenance.
  • In-depth knowledge of FAR Part 145, Part 43, and other regulations applicable to repair station operations.
  • Proficiency in researching and interpreting maintenance data, engineering prints, and repair-related drawings.
  • Skilled in the use of inspection tooling and equipment relevant to airframe quality inspection.
  • Intermediate-level computer skills, including use of MS Outlook or similar email applications, MS Word, and MS Excel.
  • Strong written communication skills for technical correspondence, documentation, and instructions.
  • Effective interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
  • FAA Airframe license.
  • Experience with Return to Service activities, including RTC documentation.
  • Experience inspecting or working with flight controls and thrust reversers.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Current certification at Level II Fluorescent Penetrant Inspection is a plus.
  • Experience in MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul) operations.
  • Experience with aircraft quality inspection of airframe components and structures.
  • Familiarity with repair and overhaul of aircraft parts in a repair station environment rather than OEM manufacturing.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks while maintaining accuracy and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to safety and quality.

Work Environment

This role is based in a FAA/EASA certified repair facility that services a wide range of aircraft electronic and airframe components used in business and regional aircraft. Work is performed on-site Monday through Friday on a first-shift schedule, offering a structured workweek within a fast-growing aerospace service organization. This is a Permanent position based out of Bloomfield, CT.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $95000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
