Robert Half Permanent Placement is excited to partner with a successful distributor in the Buffalo, NY area on their search for a skilled and qualified Supply Chain Director. This crucial role will offer leadership and innovation opportunities at a leading company with roots in our area back to the 1970s. This is a Direct Hire position with a starting salary of $1100,000 - $150,000 and includes a comprehensive benefits package plus annual bonus structure.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Establish and implement supply chain processes and operating practices that improve procurement execution, inventory performance, material availability, logistics, and overall supply continuity
- Evaluate purchasing and supply chain workflows to uncover inefficiencies, control gaps, risks, and opportunities for greater consistency, then drive appropriate corrective actions
- Direct purchasing activities and provide leadership to the Senior Buyer, ensuring supplier commitments, pricing arrangements, inventory requirements, and operational needs are effectively translated into execution
- Monitor supplier and material performance, coordinate resolution of shortages, quality concerns, pricing or quantity discrepancies, and other purchasing issues, while escalating significant trends and risks to leadership
- Strengthen inventory management through improved ERP accuracy, transaction discipline, inventory visibility, demand alignment, usage analysis, and management of excess or slow-moving materials
- Partner with Transportation and Distribution leadership to improve freight utilization, routing, carrier performance, warehouse workflows, material handling, order fulfillment, and the cost-effectiveness of internal and external transportation
- Lead cross-functional improvement efforts designed to eliminate unnecessary manual work, reduce bottlenecks and waste, improve documentation and controls, enhance data integrity, and create scalable supply chain processes
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience, with at least 10 years of progressively responsible experience spanning supply chain, procurement, purchasing, logistics, inventory, or related operations; demonstrated experience leading supply chain or purchasing personnel is required
- Strong analytical, organizational, communication, problem-solving, and process-development capabilities, with the ability to establish structure in evolving environments, manage multiple priorities, and work effectively with Sales, Finance, Operations, Planning, Transportation, and Distribution teams
- Advanced working knowledge of ERP and inventory systems and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, along with demonstrated success improving supply chain reporting, data quality, operational controls, and process efficiency; experience in the oil, lubricants, or related industrial products sector and/or a multi-site environment is a huge plus
