Job Description
We are seeking an experienced SCADA Engineer to design, develop, deploy, and support industrial automation solutions for manufacturing and process industry environments. In this role, you focus on SCADA system development, integration with Allen-Bradley PLC platforms, SQL database connectivity, system commissioning, and ongoing customer support. You work closely with customers and internal teams to deliver reliable, high-performance automation systems and provide support through commissioning, startup, and production challenges.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and support SCADA applications for industrial automation projects in manufacturing and process industry settings.
- Configure, customize, and maintain iFIX and other SCADA platforms to meet project and customer requirements.
- Integrate SCADA systems with Allen-Bradley PLCs, industrial networks, and related control hardware.
- Develop and maintain SQL databases, including data collection, reporting, and query development for production and process monitoring.
- Participate in system architecture discussions, design reviews, and project planning activities to ensure robust and scalable solutions.
- Perform factory acceptance testing (FAT) and site acceptance testing (SAT) to validate system functionality and performance.
- Support equipment startup, commissioning, and integration activities at customer facilities, ensuring smooth transition into production.
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, communication, and process issues, and perform root-cause analysis to resolve system problems.
- Provide occasional after-hours support for critical production systems when necessary to minimize downtime.
- Create clear technical documentation, operating procedures, and training materials for customers and internal teams.
- Collaborate closely with controls engineers, project managers, electricians, and customer stakeholders to deliver successful automation projects.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of SCADA and automation standards, tools, and practices across projects.
Essential Skills
- 8+ years of industrial automation or controls engineering experience.
- 5+ years of iFIX SCADA development and support experience in industrial environments.
- Proven experience configuring, programming, and troubleshooting Allen-Bradley PLC systems.
- Hands-on SQL database experience, including data collection, reporting, and query development.
- Demonstrated experience commissioning automation systems in manufacturing or customer facilities.
- Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills for hardware, software, and process issues.
- Ability and willingness to provide occasional after-hours support for critical production systems.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work directly with customers and cross-functional teams.
- Practical experience with SCADA and HMI systems, including configuration and commissioning.
- Experience in electrical engineering or controls engineering, with familiarity in automation technologies.

- Strong customer-facing skills with the ability to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.

Work Environment
This role offers the opportunity to work across a wide variety of manufacturing and industrial automation projects, providing exposure to diverse industries, technologies, and technical challenges. You collaborate closely with customers, controls engineers, project teams, and electricians to deliver custom automation solutions. Work is a mix of office-based engineering tasks, such as SCADA and SQL development, and on-site activities, including system commissioning, FAT, SAT, and production support at customer facilities. The environment emphasizes problem-solving, continuous learning, and teamwork, with occasional after-hours support required for critical production systems.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Conover, NC.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $60.00 - $65.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
