This role focuses on safely operating a variety of heavy equipment, including dozers, excavators, skid steers, backhoes, mini-excavators, and wheel loaders to perform dirt and sitework activities. The position also requires performing routine equipment maintenance, conducting daily safety inspections, and supporting the crew with manual labor tasks as needed.

Responsibilities
  • Operate dozers, excavators, skid steers, wheel loaders, backhoes, and mini-excavators to perform dirt and sitework activities in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Perform daily equipment inspections and site safety checks to ensure safe operating conditions.
  • Properly carry out routine maintenance on equipment, including lubricating, fueling, and cleaning.
  • Follow all safety procedures and best practices while operating heavy equipment and working on site.
  • Communicate effectively with co-workers, supervisors, and managers to coordinate work, report issues, and maintain a smooth workflow.
  • Monitor equipment performance and promptly discuss any problems or concerns with the appropriate team members.
  • Assist with manual labor tasks on the job site when needed, particularly while crew positions are being filled.
  • Support other duties as necessary to maintain productivity and safety on the work site.
Essential Skills
  • Proven ability to safely operate heavy equipment such as excavators, dozers, backhoes, skid steers, mini-excavators, and wheel loaders.
  • Strong understanding of dirt and sitework activities and how to use equipment to complete these tasks.
  • Ability to perform daily equipment and site safety inspections with attention to detail.
  • Capability to conduct routine equipment maintenance, including lubricating, fueling, and cleaning.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with co-workers, supervisors, and managers.
  • Willingness to perform manual labor tasks in addition to equipment operation when required.
  • Commitment to following safety standards and maintaining a safe work environment.

Work Environment

This is a full-time, onsite role with a typical schedule of Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Work is performed outdoors on active job sites, involving exposure to varying weather conditions and physical tasks associated with heavy equipment operation and manual labor. The environment is safety-focused, with daily inspections and adherence to established procedures. Standard work attire suitable for construction and equipment operation is expected, including appropriate footwear and protective gear as required.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fargo, ND.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
