Job Title: Mechanical Assembler

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Assembler to join our team. This role involves the assembly of large diesel and natural gas engines, utilizing a variety of hand and power tools, specialized torque equipment, pneumatic tooling, electrical testing equipment, and lifting devices/cranes. The successful candidate will engage in manipulating engine components during the assembly process and learning the technical aspects of engine assembly, including troubleshooting and repair of in-process engines. This position requires borderline mechanics and seriously mechanically inclined individuals, as it is not an assembly line or a basic assembler role.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble large diesel and natural gas engines using various tools and equipment.
  • Interpret blueprints and specifications to perform assembly tasks accurately.
  • Use tools such as torque wrenches, pneumatic air power tools, and DC tooling effectively.
  • Troubleshoot and repair engines during the assembly process.
  • Document processes and progress on a CPU for review.
  • Ensure adherence to safety standards and quality assurance protocols.

Essential Skills

  • Proven experience in an industrial environment working with hands.
  • Proven experience using mechanical tooling such as torque equipment and DC tools.
  • Mid-level minimum mechanical aptitude.
  • Experience in following written work instructions, SOPs, and blueprints.
  • CPU skills for following engineering drawings and work instructions.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in industries such as automotive, diesel technician, lube technician, tire shop, farming, construction, and maintenance.
  • No diploma required.
  • Ability to pass written and hands-on assessment during training.

Available Shifts and Pay

1st Shift: 6:30AM-2:30PM - $21.34

2nd Shift: 2:30PM-10:30PM - $22.09

3rd Shift: 10:30PM- 6:30AM - $22.09

Work Environment

The work environment is a temperature-controlled manufacturing facility, divided into an assembly side and a machine shop. The dress code is relaxed, allowing sweatshirts, t-shirts, hats, work pants, and jeans, though leggings and sweatpants are not allowed. Safety is a top priority, and PPE such as steel or composite toe shoes, earplugs, and protective glasses are mandatory. The facility is clean with minimal debris, and teams typically work in pairs on the assembly line. The campus is tobacco-free, with designated areas for use of such products.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lafayette, IN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.34 - $22.09/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
