Job Description
This role focuses on maintaining and repairing a fleet of de-icing trucks, ground support equipment, service vehicles, and other machinery. You will diagnose and resolve complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues, perform preventive maintenance, and ensure all equipment operates safely and reliably in demanding airport environments.
Responsibilities
- Perform repairs and maintenance on de-icing trucks, ground support equipment, service vehicles, and other machinery and equipment.
- Execute preventative maintenance programs on the fleet, service vehicles, and automobiles, including initial repair cost estimates.
- Complete all necessary documentation and reports related to maintenance and repairs, including purchase orders and service records.
- Inspect, diagnose, overhaul, adjust, and repair gas and diesel-powered trucks, automobiles, and other power equipment.
- Carry out general overhaul, installation, repair, replacement, and adjustment of bearings, ignitions, carburetors, transmissions, differentials, axles, steering mechanisms, drive shafts, fenders, radiators, and front and rear suspension systems.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot hydraulic systems within larger machines, including disassembling and repairing hydraulic pumps, motors, and related components.
- Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic and electrical systems using electrical schematics and diagnostic tools.
- Maintain detailed records for each vehicle and piece of equipment, including identification, date, mileage, and the nature of inspections, maintenance, lubrication, and repairs performed.
- Follow established procedures and instructions while working with minimal supervision and maintaining a strong focus on health and safety.
- Perform related duties and responsibilities as required to support efficient and safe operation of all equipment.
Essential Skills
- At least 5 years of experience repairing heavy-duty diesel trucks or ground support equipment (GSE).
- Strong diesel engine repair and maintenance skills, including experience with heavy equipment and de-icing trucks.
- Proficiency in diagnosing and troubleshooting electrical, electronic, and hydraulic systems.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and blueprints.
- Journeyman-level technical experience in heavy equipment, automotive, or agricultural mechanics.
- Hands-on experience with engine diagnostics and repair.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Restricted Access Identity Card (RAIC).
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and collaborate with others.
- Capability to work with minimal supervision while following procedures and executing instructions accurately.
- Strong commitment to health and safety practices in a mechanical and industrial environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience working with ground support equipment (GSE) in an airport or similar environment.
- Familiarity with Volvo chassis is an asset.
- Experience with Freightliner, Mercedes, and/or Volvo equipment is considered an asset.
- Experience using office software for documentation, reporting, and communication.
- Comfort with diagnostic tools and related computer-based systems.
- Ability to maintain organized and accurate maintenance and repair records.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail in mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical troubleshooting.

Work Environment
Work takes place in a hangar and outdoor settings, supporting equipment that operates in all weather conditions. The role involves hands-on mechanical tasks, exposure to moving equipment and industrial conditions, and requires adherence to strict safety procedures appropriate for an airport and hangar environment.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $72800.00 - $87360.00/yr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
