Job Description
This role performs mechanical assembly of line components and individual sub-assemblies, as well as material and final washing, rework and repair operations, and pallet loading. The Mechanical Assembler supports production by following detailed work instructions, using hand and power tools to build and test products, and helping maintain quality standards and manufacturing processes to meet company objectives and ensure customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities- Study job packets and work instructions to prepare for each assignment and determine the parts, sub-assemblies, tools, and materials required to manufacture and test products.
- Use hand tools and power tools to assemble mechanical components and sub-assemblies according to detailed work instructions and blueprints.
- Examine parts for correct fit and alignment, and assemble parts and sub-assemblies in the proper sequence to meet product specifications.
- Verify that specifications are met using visual inspection, automated measuring and monitoring equipment, and final test equipment.
- Perform material and final washing operations to ensure components and assemblies meet cleanliness and quality requirements.
- Carry out rework and repair operations on products that do not meet specifications, following established procedures and guidance.
- Operate machines and equipment related to deburring, grinding, and general machine operation as required for the assembly process.
- Proactively work to resolve issues related to meeting specifications and production targets, communicating with the Line Lead or Supervisor to obtain additional resources when needed.
- Document production and quality activities by accurately completing forms such as scrap tags and other required records.
- Escalate issues to the Line Lead that prevent execution of standard work, including worn, missing, or out-of-calibration tools, equipment functionality problems, missing components, and quality concerns.
- Initiate programs and operate test stands to verify product performance and support testing requirements.
- Assist Engineering in troubleshooting general issues related to product performance, assembly processes, or equipment.
- Maintain product quality by following established procedures, including standard work instructions, scrap procedures, and customer requirements.
- Promote and maintain a clean and safe work environment by complying with all procedures, policies, and regulations, and by immediately notifying the Line Lead or Supervisor of safety or quality problems.
- Wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times in accordance with plant safety requirements.
- Contribute to team goals by working toward daily metrics posted in specific work areas and supporting continuous improvement efforts.
- Maintain daily housekeeping in the work area to ensure a clean, organized, and productive environment.
- Perform pallet loading and other material handling tasks associated with moving completed products and components.
- Carry out other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Line Lead or Supervisor to support production and quality objectives.
- Mechanical assembly experience, with at least 6 months in a manufacturing environment preferred.
- Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools safely and effectively for mechanical assembly tasks.
- Ability to read and follow detailed work instructions and job packets to complete assembly and testing processes.
- Capability to interpret and work from blueprints and technical documentation for mechanical assemblies.
- Experience with deburring, grinding, and basic machine operation in a production setting.
- Ability to perform visual inspections and use automated measuring and monitoring equipment, as well as final test equipment, to verify product specifications.
- Strong attention to detail to ensure correct fit, alignment, and quality of assembled parts and sub-assemblies.
- Ability to stand for the entire shift and perform repetitive assembly tasks in a manufacturing environment.
- Commitment to following established procedures, standard work, and quality requirements to maintain product standards.
- Willingness to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and adhere strictly to safety policies and regulations.
- Previous mechanical assembly experience beyond the minimum preferred level.
- Comfort working with oils, cleaners, coolants, and other substances commonly found in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to operate test stands and follow testing programs to verify product performance.
- Experience documenting production and quality activities, including completing scrap tags and similar forms.
- Strong communication skills to effectively escalate issues to Line Leads or Supervisors and collaborate with Engineering on troubleshooting.
- Team-oriented mindset with the ability to contribute to daily production metrics and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Reliability in maintaining daily housekeeping standards and supporting a clean, organized work area.

Work EnvironmentThis position is based in a clean, modern manufacturing environment with air conditioning in the shop area. Employees will stand for the entire shift and work around moving parts, equipment, oils, cleaners, and coolants. Certain areas may have loud noise levels that require hearing protection. Eye protection is required in all plant work areas, and slip-resistant safety shoes are necessary; steel-toed boots are supported through reimbursement once hired. The environment emphasizes safety, with consistent use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and adherence to established procedures, while providing a comfortable and well-maintained facility for daily operations.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.11 - $20.11/hr.
