We are looking for an experienced Lead Business Consultant to join a contract engagement based in Plano, Texas. This role supports a highly regulated financial services environment, with a focus on AI risk management, governance oversight, and emerging technology controls. The consultant will provide senior-level guidance on assessing AI-related risks, strengthening governance practices, and advising stakeholders on compliance expectations across evolving technology initiatives.

Responsibilities:
• Lead reviews of AI risk assessments and help strengthen governance processes for new and existing AI initiatives.
• Examine AI solution architectures and control environments, providing independent challenge and practical recommendations for improvement.
• Analyze the design and performance of risk controls to determine effectiveness and recommend mitigation actions where gaps are identified.
• Support regulatory reviews, internal audits, and governance reporting by preparing clear documentation and responding to oversight inquiries.
• Perform assessments of AI inventories and use cases to confirm alignment with internal standards and risk management expectations.
• Contribute to the development and refinement of policies, standards, and governance materials related to AI, generative AI, data governance, and other emerging technologies.
• Evaluate risk exposure tied to AI agents, large language models, cloud-based AI services, and third-party AI products used by the organization.
• Advise business and technology stakeholders on framework maturity efforts and best practices for responsible AI adoption within a controlled environment.• 15+ years of experience in technology risk, cybersecurity, compliance, audit, data governance, AI risk management, or closely related disciplines.
• Demonstrated Second Line of Defense oversight experience supporting AI and generative AI programs in a regulated environment.
• Deep knowledge of AI governance and risk frameworks, including recognized standards such as ISO 42001 and ISO 27001.
• Hands-on familiarity with leading AI platforms and tools, including Microsoft Copilot, OpenAI, Anthropic, Azure OpenAI, and Amazon Q.
• Strong ability to assess complex technology risks, evaluate control design, and define effective mitigation strategies.
• Experience reviewing AI solution designs and challenging technical and control decisions from a governance and risk perspective.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce governance documentation and present findings to senior stakeholders.
