Job Description

The Manufacturing Technician performs crucial inspections before and after hardening operations using ultrasonic and mechanical procedures to ensure product quality. They conduct finish inspections of rolls using various precision instruments such as micrometers and calipers. The role involves performing ultrasonic inspection, dye penetrant, and magna flux testing, as well as roll etching of finished products. The technician is responsible for documenting inspection results through relevant records and reports, and managing inspection activities associated with parts assembly.

Responsibilities

  • Perform pre-hardening inspection using ultrasonic and mechanical procedures.
  • Conduct post-hardening inspection with hardness testing equipment.
  • Execute finish inspection of rolls using micrometers, scales, profile meters, calipers, testing devices, and gauss meters.
  • Carry out ultrasonic inspection, dye penetrant, magna flux testing, and roll etching.
  • Document inspection results through completion of inspection cards, non-conformance reports, and receiving reports.
  • Receive and inspect customer rolls to determine processing requirements.
  • Manage inspection activities associated with parts assembly.

Essential Skills

  • Proficiency in using micrometers and calipers.
  • Strong quality control skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret manufacturing drawings and manual micrometers.
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Expertise in ultrasonic and steel inspection.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Effective written and verbal communication with all levels of employees.
  • Nice to have: Oracle experience for computer work.

It is a well-lit, relatively clean facility for an industrial company, noted as one of the cleanest machine shops in NW Indiana. While some areas can be noisy, the overall environment is pleasant. The company provides steel-toe shoes and adheres to a dress code that includes uniforms, metatarsals, ear plugs, hard hats, and safety glasses.=

This is a Permanent position based out of VALPARAISO, IN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $55000.00 - $55000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
