The Repair Technician performs skilled technical work involving the diagnosis, repair, replacement, and rebuilding of oxygen tanks and systems for aircraft. This role uses specialized diagnostic equipment and trade-specific tools, applies electrical and electronics theory, and interprets technical manuals, blueprints, mechanical drawings, and schematics to ensure equipment functions safely and reliably. The technician follows all applicable industry and government guidelines related to safety, health, and environmental practices, supports research and development of new repair capabilities, maintains shop equipment and supplies, and completes required maintenance documentation in accordance with FAA regulations and company policies.

Responsibilities
  • Diagnose, repair, replace, and rebuild oxygen tanks and oxygen systems used in aircraft, ensuring all work meets regulatory and quality standards.
  • Use diagnostic equipment and a variety of hand tools and trade-specific tools to identify issues and perform precise repairs.
  • Apply principles and practices of electrical and electronics theory when working on oxygen systems and related components.
  • Interpret and follow technical manuals, blueprints, mechanical drawings, and schematics to perform accurate repairs and component assembly.
  • Apply detailed knowledge of equipment design and function to troubleshoot issues and determine appropriate repair methods.
  • Follow industry and government guidelines, particularly those related to safety, health, and environmental practices, throughout all repair activities.
  • Assist with research and development of new repair capabilities, including reviewing and understanding new technical manuals and procedures.
  • Participate in on-site and off-site training to support the introduction and proper execution of new repair processes.
  • Assist with the maintenance, organization, and proper functioning of shop equipment and supplies.
  • Make accurate computer entries and complete maintenance documentation, including Service Reports and FAA Form 8130-3, in accordance with FAA regulations and company policies.
  • Support the repair and servicing of life vests and oxygen tanks within an FAA repair station environment.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient workflow, adherence to repair standards, and continuous improvement of repair processes.
Essential Skills
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude with the ability to work confidently with mechanical assemblies and components.
  • Hands-on experience using hand tools and trade-specific tools for repair, assembly, and maintenance work.
  • Experience in component repair, including disassembly, inspection, repair, and reassembly of mechanical or electro-mechanical parts.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills to diagnose issues in oxygen systems and related equipment.
  • Ability to interpret and follow technical manuals, blueprints, mechanical drawings, and schematics.
  • Familiarity with electrical and electronics theory as it applies to oxygen systems and related equipment.
  • Ability to complete accurate computer entries and maintenance documentation, including Service Reports and FAA Form 8130-3, in line with FAA regulations and company policies.
  • Commitment to following safety, health, and environmental guidelines in an FAA-regulated repair environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience working in an FAA repair station or other regulated maintenance environment.
  • Background in production, assembly, or repair operations involving safety-critical equipment.
  • Ability to learn and apply new repair procedures by reading and understanding new technical manuals.
  • Willingness to participate in on-site and off-site training to develop new repair capabilities.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality when working with life vests, oxygen tanks, and associated components.
  • Comfort working across different shifts, including training on first shift before transitioning to second shift as needed.

Work Environment

This role is based in an FAA repair station that supports the repair and servicing of life vests and oxygen tanks for aircraft. Work is performed using diagnostic equipment, hand tools, and trade-specific tools in a regulated maintenance environment that emphasizes safety, health, and environmental compliance. Available shifts include first shift (6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.) and second shift (2:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.), with required training on first shift before transitioning to second shift. The environment is structured, process-driven, and focused on precise, compliant repair work on safety-critical equipment.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Los Angeles, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $21.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
