Job Description

The Production Worker assembles and inspects test strips, packages products, and operates basic production tools in a high-volume manufacturing environment. This role involves monitoring material levels, identifying and documenting defective products, and following established standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistent quality and safety. The position requires the ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 25 pounds, and perform additional duties as needed, including working extended hours when necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble test strips according to established procedures and quality standards.
  • Inspect test strips and related products to ensure they meet quality requirements.
  • Package finished products accurately and efficiently, following packaging guidelines.
  • Operate basic production tools and equipment safely and correctly.
  • Remove and separate defective materials or products from the production flow.
  • Document and report defective materials and products in accordance with company procedures.
  • Monitor material levels on the production line and communicate or replenish as needed to maintain continuous operations.
  • Follow all standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety guidelines at all times.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area to support efficient production and safety.
  • Perform additional production-related duties as required by the business needs.
  • Work extended hours when necessary to support production demands and deadlines.
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production goals and resolve issues promptly.

Essential Skills

  • Ability to assemble and inspect products with attention to detail and quality.
  • Capability to lift up to 25 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Comfort with standing all day in a production environment.
  • Ability to operate basic production tools and equipment safely.
  • Willingness to follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety protocols consistently.
  • Strong reliability and good job tenure in previous roles.
  • Demonstrated desire to work in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to identify, separate, and document defective materials and products.
  • Basic understanding of general production, packaging, and line work.
  • Entry-level manufacturing skills with readiness to learn and grow.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Entry-level candidates are welcome; prior experience in manufacturing, general production, bottling line, picker/packer, line worker, machine operator, packing, or packaging is beneficial.
  • Experience in restaurant or distribution settings is considered if job tenure is strong.
  • Comfort working on a production line in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work Monday through Friday
  • Willingness to take on additional responsibilities and extended hours when required.
  • Team-oriented mindset with the ability to communicate effectively with coworkers and supervisors.

Work Environment

The role is based in a production environment of approximately 90 employees within a global manufacturing operation that specializes in chemicals and test kits for monitoring water quality. The facility supports nearly 600 different test-kit configurations, including wet-chemistry and dry-chemistry methods, as well as microprocessor-based instruments, offering exposure to a variety of products and processes. The work is performed on a Monday–Friday schedule, in a standing, hands-on production setting where consistent output and quality are prioritized. The environment reflects a long-established company history and ongoing growth, with record sales and production levels in recent years.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Sparks, MD.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $17.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
