Quality Engineer
Job Description
As a Quality Engineer, you will play a vital role in supporting the Quality Manager to implement, maintain, and improve the quality management system (QMS).
Responsibilities- Interface professionally with all functions within the organization, as well as with customers and suppliers, on quality-related issues.
- Analyze and investigate product complaints or reported quality issues to mitigate effects and prevent recurrence.
- Perform root cause analysis and preventive/corrective action activities.
- Conduct risk analysis and inspection/testing activities to determine compliance with requirements.
- Develop and implement processes focused on scrap and rework reduction.
- Participate in Material Review Board (MRB) activities.
- Recommend improvements to support company quality objectives and a continual improvement philosophy.
- Perform contract/specification review activities.
- Assist the purchasing department in supplier quality assurance and provide input/criteria for supplier sourcing.
- Provide training to other personnel.
- Create AS9102 first article inspection reports and other necessary reports, presentations, procedures, or documents required by the QMS.
- Assist in the Return Material Authorization (RMA) process.
- Ensure compliance with AS9100, ISO 9001, and ESD S20.20 standards, including performing internal and supplier audits and hosting auditors.
- Cross-train on other QA/QC jobs to provide support and coverage during absences or peak workloads.
- Be open to learning new things.
- Occasional overnight travel may be required.
- 1-3 years of experience in a Quality role within a manufacturing environment, preferably in PCB or electronics.
- Knowledge of AS9100 or ISO 9001 QMS.
- Experience using a wide range of quality tools, terminology, methods, statistical techniques, sampling plans, and data analysis.
- BS in Engineering (mechanical, electrical, or industrial preferred).
- Experience in PCB manufacturing is strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with basic measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, microscopes, multimeters, etc.
- Knowledge of IPC-610 and/or J-STD-001; CIS or CIT certification is a plus.
- ASQ certification is a plus.
- Experience leading audits is a plus.
The company has roughly 200 employees, and this role reports to the Quality Manager. There is flexibility in start times, with the latest starting time being 8 am. The work environment offers opportunities for upward mobility.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Permanent position based out of Frederick, MD.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $120000.00/yr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
