The Electronics and Test Engineer develops specifications, testing strategies, inspection processes, and documentation for electronic components and their replacement parts used in nuclear power plant applications. This role provides power electronics solutions, supports product development and manufacturing tests, and collaborates closely with sourcing, quality, suppliers, and internal product teams to ensure reliable, functional, and well-documented electronic systems.

Responsibilities
  • Develop detailed specifications, test plans, inspection criteria, and documentation for electronic components and replacement parts used in nuclear power plant applications.
  • Support project teams in resolving technical issues related to current projects, equipment under test, and in-service platforms.
  • Ensure on-time delivery of detailed design outputs and technical support for manufacturing activities and product tests.
  • Provide power electronics solutions for new and existing products and projects, ensuring reliability and performance.
  • Apply analog and digital electronics design expertise to manage requirements, design, verify, and test power distribution and control products.
  • Use knowledge of the full product development lifecycle to provide technical support to engineering teams and the wider business.
  • Develop manual and automated production test procedures to verify product reliability, functionality, and compliance with specifications.
  • Provide hands-on technical support and guidance to technicians performing various testing activities.
  • Identify, analyze, and resolve technical problems using strong problem-solving skills and a common-sense approach, including asking clarifying questions when needed.
  • Collaborate with sourcing and quality personnel, suppliers, and internal product departments to address technical issues and improve product quality.
  • Contribute to integration activities, demonstrating technical leadership in bringing components and systems together for testing and validation.
Essential Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical or electronic engineering from an accredited university or college, or equivalent qualification or equivalent level of knowledge and experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of power electronics experience in an engineering position.
  • Strong knowledge of analog and digital electronics design, including power distribution and control products.
  • Experience developing and executing test procedures for electronic products, including production test methods.
  • Proficiency with National Instruments LabVIEW for test development and automation.
  • Experience with test engineering and test equipment in a laboratory or production environment.
  • Ability to provide technical support to technicians and engineering teams during testing and troubleshooting.
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve technical issues thoroughly and drive logical conclusions.
  • Understanding of the product development lifecycle and its application to electronics design, verification, and testing.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with National Instruments TestStand is beneficial, though less critical than LabVIEW.
  • Self-starter with an energizing, results-oriented approach and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Strong desire to learn and expand technical skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while meeting project objectives.
  • Excellent teamwork, coordination, and communication skills when working with cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated technical leadership in integration activities involving complex electronic systems.
  • Experience in the nuclear industry or with nuclear power plant applications is an advantage.
  • Ability and willingness to travel as needed to support projects, testing, and collaboration with other sites.
Work Environment

The role operates in a professional engineering and test environment focused on nuclear power plant applications and power electronics. Work is typically performed in laboratories and production test areas using electronic test equipment, National Instruments LabVIEW and potentially TestStand, as well as standard measurement and diagnostic tools. The position involves close collaboration with sourcing, quality, suppliers, and product engineering teams, with a mix of independent work and teamwork. Occasional travel may be required to support testing, integration, and project activities at other locations.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Raleigh, NC.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $50.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
