As an Energy Marshal, you will oversee all electrical energization activities throughout the construction and commissioning phases of mission-critical and data center projects. You will lead the implementation and enforcement of Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and electrical safety programs, ensuring the highest safety standards are maintained.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee all electrical energization activities throughout construction and commissioning phases.
  • Lead implementation and enforcement of Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and electrical safety programs.
  • Review and approve energization plans, switching procedures, and electrical work permits.
  • Coordinate activities involving medium-voltage and low-voltage electrical systems.
  • Conduct hazard assessments and identify risks associated with energized equipment and systems.
  • Participate in pre-task planning meetings, safety briefings, and commissioning coordination.
  • Ensure all personnel working around energized equipment meet project and training requirements.
  • Maintain energization logs, safety documentation, switching records, and permit documentation.
  • Coordinate electrical shutdowns, startup activities, and system turnover processes.
  • Monitor compliance with site-specific electrical safety requirements and industry standards.
  • Stop work when unsafe conditions or non-compliant activities are identified.
  • Support incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action development.
  • Provide subject matter expertise regarding electrical safety principles and best practices.
  • Partner with commissioning teams to ensure safe system startup and testing activities.
Essential Skills
  • 5+ years of electrical construction, commissioning, operations, or electrical safety experience.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical power distribution systems, switchgear, transformers, generators, UPS systems, and mission-critical infrastructure.
  • Thorough understanding of Lockout/Tagout procedures and electrical safety programs.
  • Experience coordinating energization activities on commercial, industrial, or mission-critical facilities.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical one-line diagrams, construction drawings, and switching procedures.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environments where safety is critical to project success.
  • Data center or mission-critical facility experience.
  • Previous Energy Marshal, Authorized Switching Authority, Commissioning, or Electrical Safety Supervisor experience.
  • OSHA 30 certification.
  • NFPA 70E training and certification.
  • NETA, NICET, or other electrical testing and safety certifications.
  • Journeyman or Master Electrician license preferred.
  • Experience with medium-voltage systems and utility coordination.
Work Environment

The role requires the ability to travel nationwide to support project assignments and a willingness to work on-site for extended durations during construction, commissioning, and startup phases. Flexibility to relocate temporarily based on project needs is essential. Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Philadelphia, PA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $55.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
