Cnc Machine Operator
Job Description
The CNC Machine Operator produces precision machined parts by setting up, programming, and operating CNC machines while consistently meeting quality and safety standards. This role involves interpreting blueprints and engineering drawings, monitoring production, and maintaining equipment to support efficient and reliable manufacturing operations.
Responsibilities- Set up and operate CNC machines in accordance with blueprints, engineering drawings, and written instructions.
- Program CNC machines or make program adjustments as needed to produce parts to specification.
- Inspect machined parts using precision measurement tools to verify they meet quality standards and dimensional specifications.
- Troubleshoot machining issues and adjust machine settings, tooling, or programs to resolve problems and improve part quality.
- Perform routine and preventative maintenance on CNC machines and related equipment to keep them in good working condition.
- Follow all safety guidelines and standard operating procedures to maintain a safe work environment.
- Maintain accurate production records, including job documentation, quality checks, and machine logs.
- Set up and optimize tooling for multi-axis machining operations to ensure efficient and accurate production.
- Collaborate with team members to support continuous improvement in machining processes and workflow.
- Assist with basic assembly tasks related to machined components when required.
- Hands-on CNC machine operation experience or completion of relevant CNC or machine operating schooling.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings accurately.
- Proficiency in using precision measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
- Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) for interpreting and applying dimensional requirements.
- Experience with lathe and mill operation in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to perform basic CNC programming or program edits, including G-code adjustments.
- Strong attention to detail to ensure parts meet exact specifications and quality standards.
- Effective problem-solving skills for diagnosing machining issues and implementing corrective actions.
- Reliability and consistency in meeting production goals and quality expectations.
- CAD/CAM experience with software such as Mastercam, Fusion 360, or SolidWorks.
- Experience with multi-axis machining and tooling setup and optimization.
- Knowledge of preventative maintenance practices for CNC machinery.
- Basic mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills related to machine performance.
- CNC or trade school certification; NIMS and OSHA certifications are a plus.
- Ability to perform assembly work related to machined components when needed.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to maintain accurate production and quality records.

Work EnvironmentThis role is based in a manufacturing setting within a large facility designed to support CNC machining operations. The environment includes modern CNC equipment, precision measurement tools, and CAD/CAM technologies. Team members work around machinery and production equipment, following established safety procedures and guidelines. The spacious layout provides room for multiple machines and workstations, supporting efficient workflows and opportunities to learn and grow with advanced manufacturing processes.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Woodstock, IL.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $19.50 - $24.38/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
