Software Developer
Job Description
We are looking for a Software Developer to build and support business-critical applications for our financial services operations in Albuquerque, New Mexico. In this role, you will create and enhance software solutions, connect systems across the enterprise, and help maintain stable production environments. You will work closely with analysts, technical teammates, and business partners to deliver dependable, scalable applications that meet operational goals.
This is a Hybrid work schedule.
Responsibilities:
• Design, develop, and maintain custom applications, system interfaces, and Guidewire-based solutions that support core business functions.
• Partner with analysts, stakeholders, vendors, and internal technology teams to turn business needs into practical technical designs and delivered features.
• Contribute to architectural and design planning by evaluating solution options, performance considerations, supportability, and long-term sustainability.
• Produce clear technical documentation covering design choices, code updates, integrations, and support procedures to enable ongoing maintenance and knowledge transfer.
• Follow established development, quality assurance, and release practices to move changes efficiently from coding through deployment.
• Perform testing and participate in peer reviews to verify functionality, improve code quality, and reduce defects before production release.
• Investigate production issues, analyze existing code, and implement enhancements that improve reliability, performance, and alignment with evolving requirements.
• Support technology initiatives by contributing development expertise to both near-term priorities and longer-range project work.
• Provide occasional after-hours assistance for deployments, upgrades, and troubleshooting when business demands require it.

The successful Software Developer will have
Experience with Java, Git, Bitbucket or other source control/repository tool and Linux.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, or equivalent experience in software development.
• At least 5 years of relevant development experience, with a preference for background in regulated industries.
• Proficiency in Java development, including experience working with enterprise application frameworks and object-oriented design principles.
• Hands-on experience with source control and collaboration tools such as Git or Bitbucket.
• Working knowledge of Linux environments and the ability to support applications in production or pre-production settings.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities with a consistent approach to diagnosing technical issues.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills, along with the ability to work productively in a collaborative team environment.
• Familiarity with Guidewire, Gosu, Oracle, IntelliJ or Eclipse, and standard business productivity tools is preferred.
