Job Description

We are seeking a dependable Maintenance Helper to support the maintenance team with general facility upkeep and repair activities in a busy distribution center. You will assist with maintenance projects, perform basic repairs, support facility clean-up, move materials, help install equipment such as TV monitors and other fixtures, and contribute to maintaining a safe and organized work environment. This role is ideal for someone who is mechanically inclined, comfortable using basic hand and power tools, and eager to learn maintenance procedures in a fast-paced industrial or manufacturing setting.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the maintenance team with general facility maintenance tasks in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Support maintenance projects by preparing materials, tools, and work areas as directed.
  • Perform basic repairs under supervision, including minor mechanical and electrical tasks where appropriate.
  • Carry out facility clean-up activities to keep work areas safe, organized, and free of debris.
  • Move, stage, and organize materials, tools, and equipment throughout the distribution center.
  • Help install equipment such as TV monitors and other fixtures, following safety and installation guidelines.
  • Use hand and power tools safely and correctly for maintenance and repair activities.
  • Follow safety procedures and guidelines to maintain a safe work environment for yourself and others.
  • Communicate effectively with maintenance team members to coordinate tasks and report issues.
  • Demonstrate reliability by arriving on time, completing assigned tasks, and supporting team goals.
  • Assist with general facility upkeep, including minor adjustments, inspections, and routine maintenance tasks as directed.

Essential Skills

  • Basic maintenance, construction, or general labor experience preferred.
  • Ability to use hand tools safely and effectively.
  • Ability to use power tools safely and effectively.
  • Mechanical aptitude and strong willingness to learn new maintenance procedures.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding work on a regular basis.
  • Experience with facility clean-up and performing basic repairs.
  • Ability to assist with installation of TV monitors and other equipment.
  • Reliable, safety-focused, and team-oriented work approach.
  • Comfort working in an industrial or manufacturing environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Prior experience in facilities maintenance is a plus.
  • Experience in construction or general labor in an industrial or manufacturing setting is beneficial.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical and electrical concepts is advantageous.
  • Strong attention to detail when following safety procedures and maintenance instructions.
  • Good communication skills to work effectively within a maintenance team.
  • Positive attitude toward continuous learning and skill development.

Work Environment

This position is based in a distribution center operating in an industrial or manufacturing environment. The role follows a Monday through Friday schedule from 4:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., offering consistent daytime hours. Work is hands-on and physically active, involving regular use of hand and power tools, lifting up to 50 lbs, moving materials, and working around equipment and fixtures. The environment emphasizes safety, organization, and teamwork, with an expectation that employees maintain clean and orderly work areas and follow all safety guidelines.

This is a Contract position based out of Bessemer, AL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
