Job Description
The Receptionist provides high-level administrative and front desk support by greeting and directing visitors, managing incoming calls, handling packages and mail, and performing a variety of clerical and office support tasks. This role serves as the first point of contact for guests and callers and helps ensure the smooth, professional operation of the office.
Responsibilities- Greet and warmly welcome visitors, ensuring they are directed to the appropriate person or location in a timely and professional manner.
- Answer and route incoming calls using the telephone system or console switchboard, and provide accurate information to callers and guests.
- Receive, log, and send packages and mail via couriers, ensuring items are handled and distributed correctly.
- Maintain a visitor log and call record, and issue security passes or badges in accordance with office procedures.
- Perform general clerical duties such as typing, filing, photocopying, binding documents, and preparing mailers and other materials.
- Manage the boardroom schedule, including booking meetings and ensuring the room and equipment are prepared and functioning properly.
- Provide additional administrative support to the team as required, assisting with routine office tasks and projects.
- Ensure information and records are kept organized and handled with appropriate confidentiality.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with visitors, callers, and team members.
- Customer service skills with a professional, courteous, and helpful approach at the front desk and over the phone.
- Ability to multitask and manage time effectively while handling calls, visitors, and administrative tasks.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative in completing daily responsibilities.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to keep information and records well structured and confidential.
- Previous experience using computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 0–2 years of experience in a receptionist, front desk, customer service, hospitality, or related administrative role.
- Customer service experience in a front desk, hospitality, or office environment is preferred.
- Data entry experience and comfort working with basic office software and systems.
- This can be a first job out of school, with openness to candidates who have limited professional experience.
- Demonstrated reliability, professionalism, and a strong sense of responsibility in prior roles or school activities.
- Interest in building foundational administrative and office skills in a supportive, entry-level position.
This is a front desk office environment where the Receptionist serves as the initial point of contact for visitors and callers. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Charleston, SC.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $17.00 - $17.00/hr.
