Job Description
The Sanitation Associate supports production operations by performing thorough cleaning and janitorial tasks in a manufacturing environment that produces probiotics, enzymes, bacteria, and other bio-solutions. This role focuses on maintaining a clean, safe, and compliant facility, particularly after production runs and changeovers, and contributes directly to product quality and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities- Assist production operators with general cleaning and janitorial tasks following production runs and equipment changeovers.
- Perform sanitation of production areas, equipment, and surrounding workspaces in accordance with established procedures and hygiene standards.
- Maintain cleanliness of floors, walls, and common areas to support a safe and organized manufacturing environment.
- Handle cleaning materials and supplies safely and ensure they are properly stored and used according to guidelines.
- Follow written and verbal instructions in English to complete assigned sanitation tasks accurately and on time.
- Adhere to all safety rules and use required personal protective equipment (PPE), including hair nets, beard nets, smocks, steel-toe footwear, safety glasses, and gloves.
- Support warehouse cleanliness, including working in ambient warehouse conditions approximately 20% of the time.
- Lift, move, and handle materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds as needed for sanitation activities.
- Report any safety hazards, maintenance issues, or contamination concerns to appropriate personnel promptly.
- Work collaboratively with production and warehouse staff to coordinate cleaning activities around production schedules.
- At least 1 year of sanitation or janitorial experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Hands-on experience with cleaning, janitorial, and sanitation tasks in an industrial or production setting.
- Ability to read and write in English to understand procedures, instructions, and safety information.
- Basic math skills to perform simple calculations related to measurements, quantities, or documentation.
- High school diploma or equivalent education.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds safely and repeatedly as part of daily duties.
- Ability to work effectively on a 1st shift schedule from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
- Commitment to following safety protocols and wearing all required PPE, including hair net, beard net, smocks, steel-toe footwear, safety glasses, and gloves.
- Experience working in a manufacturing facility that handles probiotics, enzymes, bacteria, or similar bio-solutions is helpful.
- Familiarity with sanitation standards in food-grade or biotech environments is an advantage.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to consistently follow standardized cleaning procedures.
- Reliability and punctuality in adhering to scheduled shift hours.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team to complete sanitation tasks efficiently.

Work EnvironmentThis role operates on a 1st shift schedule, working Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The position is based in a manufacturing and warehouse environment that produces probiotics, enzymes, bacteria, and other bio-solutions, including operations that utilize large-scale cold storage. Approximately 20% of the time is spent working in ambient warehouse conditions, with the remainder in production and sanitation areas. The work is physically active and requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds as part of regular duties. Personal protective equipment is mandatory and includes hair net, beard net, smocks, steel-toe footwear, safety glasses, and gloves to maintain safety and hygiene standards. The environment emphasizes cleanliness, safety, and adherence to established sanitation and operational procedures.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Milwaukee, WI.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $19.00 - $21.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
