General Production Worker
Job Description
As a General Production Worker, you will be responsible for operating a variety of proprietary machines to manufacture powder and paste additives for animals, humans, and agricultural products. You will follow production work order specifications and process job orders, ensuring the assembly of ingredients and fabrication of finished products. The role requires making adjustments to equipment and performing minor repairs as needed, as well as utilizing general mechanical and electrical knowledge to operate and maintain equipment.
Responsibilities- Operate proprietary machines to manufacture additives.
- Follow production work order specifications and process job orders.
- Assemble ingredients and fabricate finished products.
- Adjust equipment and perform minor repairs.
- Utilize mechanical and electrical knowledge for equipment operation and maintenance.
- Inspect and measure products to ensure quality and specifications are met.
- Assist in inspecting materials before use.
- Assist with inventory management of ingredients, packaging, and finished goods.
- Compute required ingredients and supplies for operations based on production schedules.
- Document time, ingredients, and processes accurately.
- General labor and assembly skills.
- Experience in forklift operation and general production.
- Ability to operate machinery and conduct product inspections.
- Proficient in packing, machine operation, and use of a microscope and tape measure.
- Mathematics skills, including basic algebra.
- Experience in manufacturing and warehouse environments.
- Attention to detail and capability to perform repetitive tasks.
- Ability to read and interpret documents and safety instructions in English.
- Valid driver's license.
- 6+ months of experience in a food production/manufacturing environment.
- 6+ months of experience with mechanical and/or electrical aptitude.
- Ability to troubleshoot electronics and perform basic repairs.

Work EnvironmentWork hours are Monday to Friday, 9am-6:30pm, with very little overtime. The team consists of 18 employees, fostering a tight-knit and independent work environment. The company avoids a corporate feel, with leadership actively participating in daily tasks. The dress code is casual, requiring jeans or yoga pants, work-appropriate shirts, and closed-toe shoes. As a food-grade facility, full PPE including smocks, hair nets, and beard nets is provided and must be worn daily. The environment is temperature-controlled, and employees must be comfortable with driving between the main site and a nearby warehouse. The role involves repetitive tasks, and self-starters who can work with minimal supervision are ideal candidates.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of URBANDALE, IA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $17.00 - $19.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
