We are looking for a Payroll Administrator to join an automotive organization in North Charleston, South Carolina. This contract-to-permanent opportunity is ideal for someone who thrives in an on-site office setting, can manage sensitive information with care, and is comfortable balancing payroll and employee administration tasks. The role requires strong organizational skills, solid proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, and the ability to quickly learn internal payroll platforms while supporting a fast-paced team environment.
Responsibilities:
• Process payroll information by gathering and validating employee hours, compensation adjustments, commissions, bonuses, tax withholdings, and benefit deductions from timekeeping and related records.
• Audit employee payroll profiles and update changes that affect pay, including tax status, insurance elections, compensation changes, promotions, and departmental transfers.
• Review earnings and deductions for accuracy, maintain payroll records, and assist with paycheck preparation when needed.
• Generate recurring payroll-related reports covering compensation, taxes, deductions, leave balances, and other required employment data.
• Prepare and maintain onboarding and separation documentation, keeping employee files complete, current, and compliant.
• Track vacation and sick leave eligibility and ensure employee attendance records are accurately maintained.
• Support HR administration by explaining workplace policies, assisting with benefits enrollment and questions, and responding to employee inquiries about pay, eligibility, and related matters.
• Coordinate workers’ compensation and unemployment documentation, communicate with insurance carriers or agencies, and maintain accurate records for compliance reporting.
• Maintain employee data within payroll and HR systems, including setup details, benefit classifications, and payroll compliance information, while keeping the work area organized and well maintained.• Prior experience in payroll, full-cycle payroll processing, or payroll administration within an office environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint, with the ability to manage administrative tasks accurately and efficiently.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple priorities without sacrificing accuracy.
• Comfort learning new software systems quickly, including payroll platforms such as Paycom.
• Sound judgment, personal accountability, and the ability to work with confidential employee and company information.
• Knowledge of HR administration practices, payroll procedures, and applicable federal, state, and local employment regulations.
• Ability to stay composed under pressure and meet deadlines in a busy, team-oriented workplace.
