Job Description

The Electrical Superintendent oversees planning, layout, and execution of electrical construction activities on complex industrial projects such as semiconductor facilities and data centers. This role leads field crews and subcontractors, coordinates with project management and other trades, and ensures that all electrical installations meet project specifications, local codes, quality standards, and schedule requirements. The Electrical Superintendent plays a key role in project planning, workforce management, and collaboration with BIM modelers to support accurate conduit and raceway layouts using tools such as Navisworks and Bluebeam.

Responsibilities

  • Participate with project management in developing comprehensive project execution plans, including construction schedules, manpower needs, and equipment requirements.
  • Plan the layout and installation of electrical raceways, wiring, PLC/RIO/LCP panels, and end devices in accordance with job specifications, local codes, and industry standards.
  • Use Navisworks Simulate or similar 3D model viewing tools to review project models and provide accurate layout content to BIM modelers for field installation.
  • Collaborate with project managers and field crew leads to review schedules and project status on a weekly basis, providing updates and identifying potential issues.
  • Schedule and direct electricians and subcontractors performing electrical work, interpreting specifications, and coordinating construction phases to prevent delays.
  • Coordinate production activities and attend meetings with other trades and the general contractor to identify, communicate, and resolve conflicts while reporting installation progress.
  • Assist field crew leads in creating detailed weekly work plans that outline planned activities, assigned resources, and required materials for the current and upcoming weeks.
  • Meet weekly with field crew leads to review and refine their weekly work plans, ensuring alignment with project priorities and timelines.
  • Review daily production reports submitted by field crew leads for accuracy and completeness, identifying impacts, issues, or risks that require management attention.
  • Inspect work in progress to verify that workmanship meets quality specifications, adheres to schedules, and complies with housekeeping and safety standards.
  • Work closely with the Quality Manager to ensure scopes of work are completed and ready for QA/QC inspections.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with mechanical and electrical system owners, general contractor area superintendents, and representatives from other trades.
  • Purchase wiring, parts, and materials in a timely manner to ensure availability and support uninterrupted project progress.
  • Train electricians and helpers on project requirements, installation standards, and schedules to enhance performance and productivity.
  • Utilize workforce tracking tools, including production tracking, checklists, punch lists, site inspection forms, and housekeeping logs, to monitor and manage field activities effectively.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as an Electrical Superintendent managing 2–4 foremen and approximately 25 craft personnel.
  • Strong expertise in planning and laying out electrical conduits for industrial and data center construction projects.
  • Hands-on experience with Navisworks Simulate for reviewing 3D models and generating conduit layout content for BIM modelers.
  • Proficiency using Bluebeam for reviewing, marking up, and coordinating conduit layouts and electrical construction drawings.
  • Solid experience in electrical construction, including raceway installation, wiring, and industrial systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and construction documents accurately.
  • Experience coordinating with BIM modelers to ensure accurate content is incorporated into models for field installation.
  • Knowledge of OSHA 30-level safety principles and practices relevant to electrical and industrial construction environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise and direct field crews and subcontractors, ensuring adherence to schedules and quality standards.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills for developing work plans, tracking production, and managing materials.
  • Effective communication skills for collaborating with project managers, foremen, general contractors, and other trades.

  • Experience in industrial construction environments, including semiconductor facilities and data centers.
  • Experience in construction management with a focus on electrical systems.
  • Familiarity with data center construction practices and requirements.
  • Ability to use checklists, punch lists, and site inspection tools to support quality and productivity.
  • Comfort working with mechanical and electrical system owners and general contractor personnel to resolve field issues.
  • Commitment to maintaining high standards of workmanship, housekeeping, and safety on site.

Work Environment

The role involves working in industrial construction settings that may include moderate noise levels and occasional exposure to outdoor weather conditions. Depending on project needs, work may take place at heights and around airborne particles and electrical components. Physical activities can include standing, walking, sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling, as well as frequent use of hands, arms, and voice communication. The position may require lifting and moving up to 50 pounds. Vision requirements can include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Tempe, AZ.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $43.00 - $52.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
