The Mechanical Assembler manufactures conveyor systems that keep consumer packaged goods moving in faster, more reliable, and more efficient ways. This role involves reading and interpreting assembly instructions, specifications, and drawings, preparing parts and tools, mechanically assembling components, and verifying that completed conveyor sections meet required specifications. The position is hands-on and detail-oriented, requiring strong mechanical aptitude and a commitment to quality and safety.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare work by studying assembly instructions, specifications, blueprints, schematics, and parts lists to understand the required build and sequence of operations.
  • Gather and organize parts, subassemblies, tools, and materials needed to complete assigned conveyor assemblies.
  • Position parts and subassemblies accurately by following assembly instructions and mechanical drawings.
  • Assemble conveyor components by mechanically fastening parts and subassemblies using appropriate hand, battery-operated, and pneumatic tools.
  • Measure completed conveyor sections with a tape measure and other basic measuring tools to verify that assemblies meet specified dimensions and tolerances.
  • Perform preventative maintenance procedures on equipment and tools to keep them operational and in good working condition.
  • Follow established standard assembly and disassembly procedures and retain this information for consistent, repeatable work.
  • Use hand tools such as ratchets and wrenches safely and effectively during the assembly process.
  • Apply strong mechanical aptitude to troubleshoot minor assembly issues and ensure proper fit and function of components.
  • Read and interpret production documents, blueprints, and schematics to complete assemblies correctly and on time.
  • Support general labor and production activities related to conveyor manufacturing as needed.
  • Adhere to all safety rules, guidelines, and best practices while working in the shop environment.
  • Work 1st shift and occasional overtime during the typical workweek as required to meet production needs.
Essential Skills
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and comfort working with mechanical components and assemblies.
  • Ability to read and interpret a tape measure accurately for verifying dimensions and tolerances.
  • Experience using hand tools such as ratchets and wrenches, as well as battery-operated and pneumatic tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret assembly instructions, production documents, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Capability to follow standard assembly and disassembly procedures and retain process information.
  • Comfort performing general labor and production tasks in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to work 1st shift (7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.) Monday through Friday.
  • Willingness to work occasional overtime during the typical workweek as needed.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Prior experience performing mechanical assembly in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Experience interpreting blueprints and mechanical drawings.
  • Familiarity with conveyor systems or similar industrial equipment assembly is a plus.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to meeting quality standards.
  • Reliability and ability to work effectively as part of a team in a busy shop setting.

Work Environment

This role is based in a climate-controlled shop with approximately 80 to 90 full-time employees working in the facility. The standard schedule is 1st shift from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, with occasional overtime worked during the typical week and not on weekends. The environment is clean, well lit, and focused on safety, with employees using hand tools, battery-operated and pneumatic tools, and measuring equipment such as tape measures as part of daily work. A fully finished break room with vending machines is available for employee use, and safety shoes and glasses are required, supported by a reimbursement program.

This is a Permanent position based out of Oconto, WI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.30 - $23.30/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
