Assistant Project Manager
Job Description
The Assistant Project Manager plays a key role in delivering high-quality construction projects from preconstruction through closeout. Working under the guidance of a Project Manager, this position helps plan, coordinate, and execute projects to ensure they are completed safely, on schedule, and within budget. The role serves as a vital link between office and field operations, supporting communication, documentation, and problem-solving across the project team, subcontractors, and clients.
Responsibilities- Support the Project Manager in planning, coordinating, and executing construction projects from preconstruction through closeout.
- Help ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, and within established budget parameters.
- Act as a key liaison between office and field operations to maintain clear and consistent communication.
- Assist with project documentation, including reports, logs, and records needed for effective project tracking.
- Support coordination and communication among project team members, subcontractors, and clients to resolve issues and maintain project momentum.
- Contribute to problem-solving efforts on project-related challenges, working closely with the Project Manager and field teams.
- Assist in monitoring project progress and updating schedules and records using construction project management software and Microsoft Office tools.
- Help maintain accurate cost tracking and basic accounting records related to project activities.
- High school diploma is required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Understanding of basic accounting, cost tracking, and recordkeeping in a project environment.
- Ability to communicate effectively with project teams, subcontractors, and clients.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to support documentation and coordination.
- Ability to work under the guidance of a Project Manager and collaborate with both office and field personnel.
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a relevant field is preferred.
- Experience with construction project management software such as Procore, Bluebeam, or MS Project is preferred.
- Previous experience or an internship in the construction industry is preferred.
- General knowledge of construction processes and terminology.
- Interest in developing a career in construction project management.
This role operates in a mixed environment that includes office-based work and onsite presence at construction job sites. The position involves some local travel to job sites and participation in site walk-throughs. You will work closely with both office staff and field teams, using tools such as Microsoft Office and construction project management software to support project coordination and documentation.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Maple Grove, MN.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $28.00 - $38.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
