Job Description
The Quality Specialist will play a crucial role in the Quality Control Laboratory, supporting the testing and analysis of cGMP produced viral vectors and cells. The individual will work closely with senior staff to help shape the strategic direction of the GMP area. Regular tasks will involve performing sample assays five nights a week, as well as operating, calibrating, validating, cleaning, and maintaining laboratory equipment. Under the guidance of senior staff, the specialist will also perform methods development, analyze microbiological environmental monitoring samples, write and revise SOPs, and manage materials and equipment. Additional duties include periodic cleaning of the clean room facility and assisting with viral vector product manufacturing.
Responsibilities
- Operate within the Quality Management System for the manufacture of phase-appropriate material.
- Ensure proper labeling and documentation of product samples, including sample allocation and transition.
- Maintain accountability for products across sample requirements and storage conditions.
- Evaluate and improve sample management processes.
- Complete, review, file, and archive documentation according to SOPs.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements for cellular and gene therapy products.
- Perform tasks in accordance with established policies, procedures, and training.
- Work under close supervision of sr staff in a collaborative team environment.
- Document all activities performed according to regulatory and quality control standards.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Biology or a related science field.
- Understanding of regulatory and documentation constraints in a GMP environment.
- Experience with aseptic techniques, mammalian cell culture, PCR, and ELISA procedures.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in GMP manufacturing is highly preferred.

This role is within a rapidly growing company that is expanding with new state-of-the-art clean rooms and equipment in Columbus, Ohio. The work involves cross-functional team collaboration in a high-productivity environment.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Columbus, OH.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $24.00 - $28.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
