The Mechanical & Robotics Technician supports the operations and maintenance team by repairing, maintaining, and improving material handling equipment, pneumatic systems, and automated packaging and distribution equipment within a high-volume fulfillment environment. In this role, you install, maintain, and repair mechanical, electrical, and robotic systems, while also mentoring junior technicians and contributing to a strong safety culture and reliable facility performance.

Responsibilities
  • Promote a safe working environment by consistently following all safety procedures and equipment-specific safety standards.
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance routines on material handling equipment and pneumatic systems, ensuring proper documentation of all work completed.
  • Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues on material handling equipment, including belts, motors, photo-eyes, relays, and related components.
  • Install, maintain, and repair automated packaging and distribution equipment to support efficient operations.
  • Conduct predictive and preventive maintenance procedures to reduce downtime and extend equipment life.
  • Use hand tools and power tools to perform mechanical repairs, adjustments, and equipment upgrades.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and electrical schematics to diagnose issues and execute repairs accurately.
  • Apply knowledge of electrical and electronic principles to identify and resolve basic input and output function problems.
  • Work with robotic and electromechanical systems to support operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance activities.
  • Maintain accurate records in a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), including logging work orders, parts usage, and maintenance history.
  • Track, organize, and store department inventory, tools, and spare parts to ensure availability and proper control.
  • Collaborate and maintain a positive working relationship across the operations facility, supporting cross-functional teams as needed.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior technicians to support their development and adherence to best practices.
  • Support project work and small improvement initiatives, contributing to project planning and execution where required.
  • Ensure equipment maintenance complies with Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) specifications and applicable safety standards.
  • Work flexible schedules, shifts, and areas, including weekends, nights, and holidays, as needed to support operations.
  • Travel up to approximately 20% of the time, as required by facility and operational needs.
  • Stand and walk for shifts lasting up to 12 hours, and move items weighing up to 49 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Perform repetitive physical tasks such as bending, crouching, kneeling, reaching, twisting, sitting, standing, and walking throughout the shift.
  • Handle parts and tools with frequent use of eye/hand coordination, manual picking, pinching, holding, grasping, and repetitive wrist motion.
Essential Skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, shifts, and areas, including weekends, nights, and holidays.
  • At least 1 year of experience using PC-based tools, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and experience with industrial maintenance or equipment repair.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 49 pounds and perform repetitive physical tasks such as bending, kneeling, reaching, and standing for extended periods.
  • Competence in troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues on material handling equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and electrical schematics.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical and electronic principles, including input and output functions.
  • Experience performing preventive and reactive maintenance on industrial or material handling equipment.
  • Strong computer skills to log work activities and maintain accurate maintenance records.
  • Comfort working in environments that may include dust, fumes or odors, hot and cold temperatures, noise, vibration, and standing on concrete for long hours.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Associate’s or higher degree from a vocational school or college with a focus in mechanical or electrical fields.
  • 2 years of experience with automated conveyor systems and controls.
  • 2 years of experience in the repair of material handling equipment.
  • 2 years of experience conducting predictive and preventive maintenance procedures.
  • 1 year of experience in metal and wood fabrication.
  • 1 year of experience reading and applying blueprints and electrical schematics.
  • 1 year of experience working with electrical and electronic principles in an industrial environment.
  • Experience with Material Handling Equipment (MHE) safety standards in accordance with OEM and applicable safety regulations.
  • Experience using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to manage work orders and maintenance history.
  • Experience with robotic or electromechanical operation and maintenance.
  • Ability to troubleshoot basic input and output functions on automated equipment.
  • Project management experience, including coordinating small maintenance or improvement projects.
  • Experience with industrial maintenance, including hand tools, power tools, conveyor systems, and general equipment maintenance.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills in both mechanical and electrical domains.
  • Ability to safely handle and move items up to 50 pounds.

Work Environment

This role is based in a large operations facility that houses automated packaging, distribution, and conveyor systems, as well as material handling and pneumatic equipment. You work on-site in an industrial setting that may involve small spaces, dust, fumes or odors, hot and cold temperatures both inside and outside, noise, vibration, wet or uneven surfaces, and standing on concrete for long periods. Shifts can last up to 12 hours, and schedules may include nights, weekends, and holidays. The work requires frequent bending, crouching, kneeling, reaching, twisting, sitting, standing, walking, and the use of hand and power tools. You regularly lift parts and tools averaging around 20 pounds and occasionally up to 49 pounds. The environment is safety-focused, and you use appropriate personal protective equipment while working with mechanical, electrical, and robotic systems.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Daytona Beach, FL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $28.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
