Job Description

This role focuses on performing mechanical repairs, preventative maintenance, and equipment installations at a recycling plant, with a strong emphasis on maintaining and repairing recycling and mining equipment. You will work primarily on industrial machinery and conveyor systems, ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable operation of all equipment across the facility.

Responsibilities

  • Perform mechanical repairs and preventative maintenance on recycling and mining equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Install, maintain, and repair industrial equipment and machinery, including conveyors, motors, gearboxes, and bearings.
  • Conduct conveyor changes and perform ongoing conveyor maintenance to minimize downtime and maintain production flow.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues on industrial equipment.
  • Perform both preventative and reactive maintenance tasks, responding promptly to equipment breakdowns and production needs.
  • Use stick welding, air arc, and oxy-acetylene torch techniques to repair and fabricate components as needed.
  • Inspect and service gearboxes, bearings, and other mechanical components to extend equipment life and improve reliability.
  • Work with hydraulic and pneumatic systems, performing repairs, adjustments, and routine maintenance.
  • Operate equipment such as skid steers, high-reach lifts, and forklifts to access and service equipment safely.
  • Follow all safety procedures and best practices while working in an outdoor industrial environment.
  • Document maintenance activities accurately and communicate equipment status and issues to the appropriate stakeholders.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts by identifying opportunities to enhance equipment performance and reduce downtime.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum 5 years of industrial maintenance experience or at least 10 years of welding experience in an industrial setting.
  • Experience working in an industrial manufacturing plant environment.
  • Proficiency in mechanical repair, including work on motors, gearboxes, bearings, and conveyors.
  • Strong stick welding skills, with the ability to perform structural and repair welds reliably.
  • Experience using an air arc and oxy-acetylene torch for cutting and gouging.
  • Hands-on experience with hydraulic systems, including troubleshooting and repair.
  • Hands-on experience with pneumatic systems, including troubleshooting and repair.
  • Ability to perform preventative and reactive maintenance on industrial equipment and machinery.
  • Comfort operating skid steers, high-reach lifts, and forklifts to perform maintenance tasks.
  • Capability to work in a role that is approximately 60% mechanical and 40% welding.
  • Ability to work safely in an outdoor industrial environment with heavy equipment and moving machinery.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with conveyor maintenance, including conveyor changes, alignment, and component replacement.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Familiarity with industrial repair practices and maintenance best practices.
  • Ability to balance multiple maintenance tasks and prioritize work based on production needs.
  • Comfort working overtime, including some Saturdays and occasional Sundays, as part of a rotating schedule.
  • Welders with at least 10 years of experience are strongly considered, even if formal maintenance experience is limited.

Work Environment

This position is based at an outdoor recycling plant, working directly around industrial equipment and conveyor systems. The typical schedule runs Monday through Friday from approximately 7:30 a.m. until around 5:00 p.m., with the workday ending when jobs are completed, so finish times may vary slightly. Team members currently work about three Saturdays per month and a few Sundays per quarter, with weekend work rotating and expected to decrease as staffing grows. The role requires regular use of equipment such as skid steers, high-reach lifts, and forklifts to access machinery for maintenance in an outdoor, industrial environment that involves exposure to weather, noise, and heavy equipment.

This is a Permanent position based out of Orlando, FL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $52000.00 - $73000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
