Job Title: Test Engineer - Aerospace ComponentsJob Description

This role requires the individual to perform testing and validation of aerospace components, assemblies, and systems to ensure conformance to engineering specifications, customer requirements, and industry standards. The Test Engineer will be responsible for developing, executing, and documenting test procedures for flight-critical products including ducting assemblies, hoses, and related components. Testing activities may include functional, performance, environmental, and qualification testing to verify product integrity and compliance.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute test procedures in accordance with engineering drawings, specifications, and customer requirements.
  • Perform functional, environmental, and qualification testing on components, sub-assemblies, and finished products.
  • Set up and operate test equipment, data acquisition systems, and instrumentation to evaluate product performance.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and test requirements to ensure proper test execution.
  • Collect, record, and analyze test data to determine conformance to specifications and requirements.
  • Prepare detailed test reports and maintain accurate documentation of test results and activities.
  • Troubleshoot test setups, equipment, and product issues to ensure reliable and repeatable results.
  • Support root cause analysis and corrective action activities related to test failures or non-conformances.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, and Manufacturing teams to ensure test requirements align with production and design intent.
  • Assist in the development of new test methods, procedures, and fixtures to support product development and production.
  • Ensure all testing activities comply with company procedures, safety requirements, and customer standards.
  • Perform calibration checks and maintain test equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned by management.
Essential Skills
  • Composite Layup & Fabrication (skins, insulation, ducting).
  • Blueprint & Process Specification Interpretation.
  • Curing & Composite Processing (vacuum bagging, ovens, autoclave).
  • Experience with test equipment, instrumentation, and data acquisition systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and test procedures.
  • Experience with root cause analysis and corrective action processes.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word) for reporting and data analysis.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Desirable working knowledge or certifications in AS9100 & ISO 9001 quality systems and aerospace manufacturing environments.
  • Familiarity with GD&T (ANSI Y14.5) and engineering documentation.
  • Knowledge of laboratory or production test environments including pressure, flow, leak, or performance testing.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with engineering and production teams.
  • Familiarity with aerospace customer specifications and qualification testing requirements is a plus.
  • Ability to work in an ITAR-controlled environment may be required depending on program needs.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related technical discipline preferred.
  • 3 to 5+ years of experience in testing, validation, or engineering within an aerospace or manufacturing environment.
  • Experience performing functional, environmental, or qualification testing is strongly preferred.
Work Environment

The work environment involves working with advanced test equipment and data acquisition systems, within a laboratory or production test environment. The role may require adherence to ITAR-controlled environment requirements depending on program needs. Employees will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams in engineering, quality, and manufacturing to ensure alignment with production and design intent.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Simi Valley, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $25.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
