Job Description

The Paint & Finishing Technician performs professional painting, surface preparation, finishing, and related construction support activities on commercial, industrial, hospitality, retail, multifamily, and light construction projects. This role ensures that all interior and exterior surfaces receive high-quality finishes that meet project specifications and industry standards.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare interior and exterior surfaces by cleaning, sanding, scraping, patching, caulking, masking, and priming to ensure optimal adhesion and finish quality.
  • Repair drywall imperfections, minor wall damage, and other surface defects prior to painting to create smooth, uniform surfaces.
  • Protect surrounding areas, fixtures, equipment, and finished surfaces from paint, dust, and debris using appropriate coverings and masking techniques.
  • Verify that all surfaces are properly prepared to achieve professional-quality finishes in accordance with project requirements.
  • Apply paints, primers, stains, sealers, and specialty coatings using brushes, rollers, and spray equipment, following manufacturer guidelines and project specifications.
  • Produce consistent, high-quality finishes that align with company standards and specific project expectations.
  • Match paint colors and finishes as required to blend with existing surfaces or meet design specifications.
  • Complete detailed finish work on trim, doors, cabinetry, architectural features, and specialty surfaces with a strong focus on accuracy and detail.
  • Inspect completed work, identify any deficiencies, and correct issues prior to project completion to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Assist with drywall repairs, finish carpentry, punch-list items, and general construction activities as needed to support project completion.
  • Coordinate work activities with project managers, field supervisors, subcontractors, and other trades to maintain efficient workflows and meet schedules.
  • Load, unload, transport, and organize materials, tools, and equipment to and from job sites in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Maintain assigned tools, equipment, vehicles, and work areas in clean, orderly, and safe condition.

Essential Skills

  • At least 2 years of experience in commercial painting, industrial painting, finishing, or related construction trades.
  • Strong knowledge of surface preparation techniques, including cleaning, sanding, scraping, patching, caulking, masking, and priming.
  • Proficiency in paint application techniques using brushes, rollers, and spray equipment.
  • Basic drywall repair and patching experience to address minor wall damage and imperfections.
  • Ability to safely work from ladders, scaffolding, and elevated work platforms while following safety protocols.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record for travel between project locations.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience working on commercial, industrial, hospitality, healthcare, or multifamily construction projects.
  • Experience operating airless spray systems and specialty coating equipment.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with project managers, supervisors, subcontractors, and other trades in a construction environment.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to producing consistent, high-quality finishes.
  • Strong organizational skills for managing materials, tools, and equipment across multiple projects.

Work Environment

The role involves both indoor and outdoor work environments with varying weather conditions. You will work in active construction settings with exposure to dust, paint fumes, noise, and other typical job site elements. The position requires frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and climbing, as well as the ability to work from ladders, scaffolding, and elevated platforms. Driving between project locations may be required, and you will regularly handle and operate painting tools, spray equipment, and related construction materials.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Timnath, CO.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $38.00 - $44.20/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
