Maintenance Technician
Job Description
The Mechanical & Robotics Technician supports operations and maintenance teams by installing, repairing, and maintaining material handling equipment, pneumatic systems, and automated packaging and distribution equipment within a high-volume facility. This role focuses on preventive and predictive maintenance, troubleshooting complex mechanical and electrical issues, and ensuring that all equipment operates safely and efficiently. You will also have the opportunity to mentor junior technicians, contribute to a culture of safety, and maintain accurate documentation and inventory control.
Responsibilities- Support the operations maintenance team in repairing and maintaining material handling equipment and pneumatic systems throughout the facility.
- Install, maintain, and repair automated packaging and distribution equipment, including robotic and electromechanical systems.
- Perform preventive and predictive maintenance routines on material handling equipment and document all work accurately and completely.
- Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical problems related to material handling equipment, including belts, motors, photo-eyes, relays, and related components.
- Promote and maintain a safe working environment by following all safety procedures and equipment standards in accordance with OEM and safety guidelines.
- Maintain a positive and collaborative working relationship with colleagues and stakeholders across the operations facility.
- Track, organize, and store department inventory, parts, and tools to ensure availability and proper control.
- Use a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to log work orders, record maintenance activities, and manage equipment histories.
- Apply knowledge of basic input and output functions to diagnose and resolve control system issues on automated conveyor systems.
- Interpret and work from blueprints and electrical schematics to perform installations, repairs, and modifications.
- Conduct metal and wood fabrication tasks as needed to support equipment installation, repair, and improvement projects.
- Contribute to project management activities related to equipment upgrades, process improvements, and maintenance initiatives.
- Use power tools and hand tools safely and effectively in the repair and maintenance of equipment.
- Work flexible schedules, shifts, and areas, including weekends, nights, and holidays, to support continuous operations.
- Ability to troubleshoot basic input and output functions on automated equipment.
- Associates or higher degree from a vocational school or college with a focus in the mechanical or electrical field.
- Minimum 2 years of experience with automated conveyor systems and controls.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in the repair of material handling equipment.
- Minimum 2 years of experience conducting predictive and preventive maintenance procedures.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in metal and wood fabrication.
- Minimum 1 year of experience reading and interpreting blueprints and electrical schematics.
- Minimum 1 year of knowledge in electrical and electronic principles.
- Experience working with material handling equipment safety standards in accordance with Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) and safety requirements.
- Experience with a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Experience with robotic or electromechanical operation and maintenance.
- Mechanical and electrical aptitude, including use of power tools.
- Ability to work flexible schedules, shifts, and areas, including weekends, nights, and holidays.
- At least 1 year of experience with PC applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Project management experience related to maintenance, equipment upgrades, or process improvements.
- Experience performing preventive maintenance with proper documentation and record keeping.
- Ability to maintain positive working relationships across a large operations facility.
- Familiarity with material handling equipment components such as belts, motors, photo-eyes, and relays.
- Robotics experience, including troubleshooting and maintaining robotic systems.
- Strong attention to safety and adherence to established safety procedures and standards.
- Strong organizational skills for tracking and storing department inventory, parts, and tools.

Work EnvironmentThis role is based in a dynamic operations facility where you may stand and walk for shifts lasting up to 12 hours, with or without reasonable accommodation, and move items weighing up to 49 pounds. Working conditions can include small spaces, dust, fumes, odors, hot and cold temperatures both inside and outside, noise, vibration, standing on concrete for extended periods, and wet or uneven surfaces. The position involves repetitive bending, crouching, kneeling, reaching, twisting, sitting, standing, and walking, as well as lifting parts and tools averaging 20 pounds and occasionally up to 49 pounds. You will use fine motor skills and dexterity in eye-hand coordination, foot pedals, manual picking, pinching, holding, grasping, and wrist motion with repetitive flexion and rotation. The environment is hands-on, fast-paced, and safety-focused, with regular use of tools and equipment typical of industrial maintenance and robotics operations.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Pleasant Prairie, WI.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $27.00 - $30.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
