Job Description
The Quality Assurance Inspector plays a critical role in ensuring that mechanical, electrical, and electro-mechanical assemblies meet stringent technical and customer requirements. This position focuses on precision inspection of parts and finished products, interpretation of blueprints and technical drawings, and strict adherence to quality systems and specifications within an aerospace manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities- Perform incoming inspections on hardware and materials to verify conformance to technical data and specifications.
- Conduct in-process and final acceptance inspections on mechanical, electrical, and electro-mechanical assemblies and sub-assemblies intended for use by the US military.
- Interpret and apply information provided in blueprints, schematic drawings, specification sheets, parts lists, engineering change orders, quality inspection plans, procedures, and work instructions.
- Use micrometers, calipers, height gauges, gauge blocks, radius gauges, and other precision measurement tools to perform detailed quality inspections.
- Generate clear and accurate inspection-related documentation, including records of inspections performed, non-conformance reports, and problem reports.
- Utilize online ERP systems to document inspection activities, record results, and accept or reject hardware and materials based on established criteria.
- Track and maintain non-conformance issues on the production floor, ensuring timely documentation, follow-up, and resolution.
- Perform work in accordance with company quality plans, procedures, and work instructions to maintain compliance with internal and external standards.
- Conduct First Article Inspections (FAIs) and delta-FAIs in accordance with company procedures and AS9102 requirements.
- Support product sell-off activities to customers and government representatives by providing accurate inspection data and quality documentation.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance inspection processes, product quality, and overall operational efficiency.
- Communicate effectively with peers and leadership to share inspection findings, raise issues, and collaborate on corrective actions.
- Act ethically at all times, demonstrate respect for colleagues, and contribute to a collaborative, team-oriented work environment.
- Demonstrated ability to perform precision mechanical, electrical, and electro-mechanical inspections using micrometers, height gauges, gauge blocks, radius gauges, calipers, and similar measurement tools.
- Strong understanding of mechanical and electronic assembly processes, including electro-mechanical and electrical assembly.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, schematic diagrams, specification sheets, parts lists, and work instructions.
- Experience performing quality inspections, including incoming, in-process, final acceptance, and First Article Inspections (FAIs).
- Ability to use online ERP systems to record inspection activities and manage accept/reject decisions for hardware and materials.
- Knowledge of AS9100 quality standards and AS9102 First Article Inspection requirements in an aerospace or similar regulated environment.
- Capability to generate clear and accurate inspection reports, non-conformance reports, and problem reports.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with peers and management.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to verify conformance to technical data and specifications.
- Ability to follow established quality plans, procedures, and work instructions consistently and accurately.
- Experience working in aerospace manufacturing or other highly regulated production environments.
- Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies and participation in process improvement activities.
- Hands-on experience with mechanical assembly, electronic assembly, wiring, and soldering using hand tools.
- Comfort working with production and assembly teams to address quality-related issues on the shop floor.
- Understanding of quality inspection planning and documentation practices.
- Ability to support customer and government product sell-off activities through accurate and professional representation of inspection results.

Work EnvironmentThis role is based in a climate-controlled aerospace manufacturing facility focused on mechanical, electrical, and electro-mechanical production. Work is performed on the production floor and at inspection stations using precision measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, height gauges, gauge blocks, and radius gauges, as well as computer-based ERP systems for documentation. The position follows a four-day workweek with 10-hour shifts, Monday through Thursday, and involves close collaboration with production, engineering, and quality teams in a structured, process-driven environment.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Huntsville, AL.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.00 - $26.50/hr.
