The Production Technician operates mechanical testing equipment to determine material properties and performs routine physical tests on prepregs, adhesives, plastics, and other received goods to support quality inspections. This role is ideal for a sharp, mechanically inclined individual with some manufacturing experience and basic computer skills who is eager to learn and be trained on specialized testing procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Set up, conduct, and monitor mechanical testing using mechanical testing machines and data acquisition systems to evaluate material properties.
  • Perform routine physical tests on prepregs, adhesives, plastics, and other received materials in support of quality inspections.
  • Maintain test equipment, fixtures, and related tools in good working order to ensure accurate and reliable test results.
  • Read, interpret, and follow test plans to execute testing procedures correctly and consistently.
  • Follow internal test facility manuals, procedures, work instructions, and other documented guidelines to maintain compliance and quality standards.
  • Maintain and manage the internal testing schedule to ensure tests are completed on time and in the correct sequence.
  • Monitor, record, and document test results accurately for use in quality control and material evaluation.
  • Use hand tools and shop tools safely and effectively during test setup and equipment maintenance.
  • Collaborate with team members and quality personnel to support ongoing production and inspection activities.
Essential Skills
  • Experience or background in a manufacturing environment.
  • Basic computer skills to operate data acquisition systems and document test results.
  • Ability to run mechanical testing machines and monitor data acquisition systems after training.
  • Ability to read and understand test plans, procedures, and work instructions.
  • Skill in using hand tools and shop tools safely and effectively.
  • Mechanical aptitude and comfort working with mechanical equipment and fixtures.
  • Fluency in English, both written and oral, to follow documentation and communicate clearly.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining professionalism and attention to detail.

Work Environment

This role is based in a large, clean manufacturing environment focused on producing interior components for commercial aircraft, including galleys, closets, lavatories, floor panels, class dividers, and sidewalls. The position is on second shift, typically working from 3:30 p.m. to 2:00 a.m., Monday through Friday. The current schedule involves 10-hour shifts Monday through Thursday, 8 hours on Friday, and frequent additional overtime, so flexibility to work extended hours is required. You will work around mechanical testing equipment, data acquisition systems, and standard shop tools in a well-organized production and test facility.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Seal Beach, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.50/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
