A San Francisco-based private investment firm is seeking a Fund Accountant to join its close-knit and highly collaborative team. The firm invests across a diversified portfolio of private markets, including private equity, venture capital, real estate, private credit, and other alternative investments. The platform partners with established investment managers and selectively pursues co-investment opportunities.

The firm has a small, collaborative team environment where employees are encouraged to take ownership, contribute ideas, and make a meaningful impact. Because of the lean structure, this role is ideal for someone who is comfortable wearing multiple hats, working independently, and taking initiative, while also knowing when to ask questions and collaborate with the broader team.

The ideal candidate is resourceful, adaptable, detail-oriented, and team-oriented, with the ability to manage competing priorities and take ownership of responsibilities from start to finish.

Responsibilities

  • Process and record a high volume of capital call and distribution notices ensuring transactions are accurately captured and properly reflected in the accounting records.
  • Maintain and reconcile fund accounting records, ensuring financial data is accurate, complete, and up to date.
  • Calculate quarterly management fees and legal expenses across the firm's investment funds.
  • Support the quarterly fund close process, following established procedures to review, reconcile, and finalize the general ledgers for all funds.
  • Prepare quarterly capital account statements for limited partners and general partners.
  • Assist with limited partner performance reporting, including the preparation of materials for annual investor meetings.
  • Support the annual audit process, including gathering requested documentation and preparing schedules and supporting materials.
  • Assist with the preparation and review of annual financial statements.
  • Partner with internal team members and external service providers to resolve accounting questions and ensure timely completion of reporting deliverables.
  • Take on additional accounting and operational projects as needed within a lean, fast-paced private investment environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 1-2+ years of experience public accounting
  • CPA or working towards CPA
  • Strong understanding of fund accounting concepts and financial reporting.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately with high volumes of data and transactions.
  • Comfortable working independently and taking ownership in a small-team environment.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • A collaborative, hands-on approach with a willingness to wear multiple hats and contribute wherever needed.
  • Strong Excel skills and excellent communication skills.
