The Maintenance Technician / Mechanic supports the installation, repair, and preventive maintenance of production machinery and facility equipment. In this developing to intermediate-level role, you perform hands-on mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic work, assist with general building maintenance, and help identify practical opportunities to improve equipment reliability, production processes, and workplace safety.
Responsibilities
- Install, assemble, adjust, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain production machinery, conveyors, motors, pumps, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, and related equipment.
- Perform basic welding, cutting, and metal fabrication work to repair equipment, supports, guards, carts, and facility components.
- Assist with basic electrical maintenance and troubleshooting, including work on motors, switches, sensors, wiring, lighting, and control components while following all applicable safety procedures.
- Support lockout/tagout practices and safely coordinate electrical repairs that require a qualified electrician or advanced technical support.
- Perform scheduled preventive and corrective maintenance to minimize equipment downtime and extend asset life.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and basic hydraulic issues, escalating complex repairs to appropriate technical resources when needed.
- Assist with equipment moves, line changes, machine upgrades, and the installation of new machinery.
- Complete general facility maintenance, including minor repairs to lighting, plumbing, doors, HVAC-related components, walls, floors, and other building systems.
- Respond promptly and safely to maintenance requests and equipment breakdowns to restore operation and maintain productivity.
- Support continuous improvement efforts by identifying recurring equipment problems, reducing waste and downtime, and recommending process or maintenance improvements.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, parts usage logs, and repair documentation.
- Follow all safety procedures, lockout/tagout requirements, and company policies at all times.
- Keep work areas organized, clean, and well stocked with appropriate maintenance supplies and spare parts.
Essential Skills
- Hands-on experience as a maintenance technician or mechanic in an industrial or production environment.
- Strong mechanical skills with the ability to install, adjust, troubleshoot, and repair production machinery, conveyors, motors, and pumps.
- Working knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic systems, including basic troubleshooting and repair.
- Ability to perform basic welding, cutting, and metal fabrication for equipment and facility repairs.
- Basic electrical maintenance and troubleshooting skills, including motors, switches, sensors, wiring, lighting, and control components.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and basic hydraulic issues.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and technical documentation.
- Experience performing preventive and corrective maintenance to reduce downtime and extend equipment life.
- Strong troubleshooting mindset and ability to respond effectively to equipment breakdowns.
- Commitment to following safety procedures, including lockout/tagout practices.
- Ability to maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and repair documentation.
- Organizational skills to keep work areas orderly and manage parts and supply inventory.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in an industrial service or manufacturing environment.
- Experience working with hydraulics and pneumatics in production settings.
- Exposure to welding and metal fabrication techniques for equipment and facility components.
- Familiarity with HVAC-related components and general building maintenance tasks.
- Comfort assisting with equipment moves, line changes, machine upgrades, and new machinery installation.

Work Environment
This role operates in an industrial production facility where you work directly with machinery, conveyors, motors, pumps, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, and related equipment. You use tools and equipment for mechanical repair, basic welding, cutting, and metal fabrication, as well as standard electrical test tools for basic troubleshooting. The work involves both shop-floor and general building maintenance activities, including lighting, plumbing, doors, HVAC-related components, walls, floors, and other facility systems. You follow established safety procedures and lockout/tagout requirements, and you maintain organized work areas and a well-managed inventory of maintenance supplies and spare parts.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Allentown, PA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.00 - $32.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
