Job Title: Material Handler – 1st Shift

Job Description

This 1st shift warehouse role is a highly physical position focused on accurately processing, picking, and moving boxed materials in a busy, non-climate-controlled warehouse. You will scan and pull orders, move and stack boxes, and use material handling equipment to load and unload pallets and trucks while meeting productivity and accuracy expectations.

7:30am to 4pm

$20/hr

Responsibilities

  • Scan boxes accurately and ensure all items match order and location information.
  • Perform precise order pulling while consistently meeting productivity and accuracy metrics.
  • Read labels and process incoming and outgoing orders according to established procedures.
  • Use a proprietary computer system to track orders and determine the location of boxes.
  • Operate a handheld RF scanner to locate, pick, and confirm items.
  • Lift, carry, push, pull, and move boxes weighing 10–50 lbs without assistance on a regular basis.
  • Walk, stand, kneel, squat, stoop, crawl, and bend forward for extended periods throughout the shift.
  • Move boxes up and down inclines, stairs, and over changes in walking surface and elevation.
  • Load, operate, and move hand carts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment safely.
  • Load boxes onto pallets and shrink wrap pallets at ground level or on carts.
  • Manually load pallets onto trucks using appropriate material handling aids.
  • Maintain balance and work safely when using ladders as required.
  • Work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment while adhering to all safety guidelines.

Essential Skills

  • Ability to lift and carry boxes weighing up to 50 lbs without assistance for prolonged periods.
  • Capability to walk, stand, kneel, squat, stoop, crawl, and bend for extended periods during the shift.
  • Experience with general labor or warehouse work, including order pulling and order picking.
  • Ability to operate hand trucks, pallet jacks, and other basic material handling equipment.
  • Comfort using a handheld RF scanner and basic computer systems to track and process orders.
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate scanning, picking, and labeling of boxes.
  • Ability to work safely on uneven and concrete surfaces and navigate inclines and stairs while carrying boxes.
  • Reliability and flexibility to start at 7:30 a.m. (with potential 8:00 a.m. start) Monday through Friday.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Steel-toed boots required for safety on the warehouse floor.
  • Experience working in a non-climate-controlled warehouse environment is a plus.
  • Comfort working in a role that involves constant heavy lifting throughout the shift.

Work Environment

The role is based in a busy warehouse that is non-climate-controlled, so temperatures will vary with the seasons. The workday typically starts at 7:30 a.m., Monday through Friday, with some flexibility for an 8:00 a.m. start as needed. You will spend most of your shift on your feet, moving throughout the facility on concrete and uneven surfaces, including stairs and inclines. The position requires constant heavy lifting, frequent bending and kneeling, and regular use of hand carts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment. Steel-toed boots are required as part of the safety-focused dress code.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cerritos, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $20.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
