The Quality Engineer plays a key role in investigating and resolving customer, internal, and manufacturing quality concerns, driving corrective actions, and supporting continuous improvement across production operations. This position works closely with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and customer-facing teams to ensure issues are clearly understood, effectively addressed, and documented using structured problem-solving methodologies. The role offers strong growth potential and is intended to develop into a successor to the current quality leadership.

Responsibilities
  • Investigate customer, internal, and manufacturing quality concerns and support the development and implementation of effective corrective actions.
  • Lead and coordinate complaint investigations, including organizing containment activities, issuing quality alerts, assigning ownership, and verifying the effectiveness of corrective actions.
  • Prepare timely, accurate responses to customers regarding quality issues and maintain comprehensive documentation using 8D or similar problem-solving methodologies.
  • Facilitate Material Review Board (MRB) meetings and support the disposition of non-conforming material in accordance with established procedures.
  • Perform detailed root cause analysis using tools such as 5-Why analysis, fishbone (cause-and-effect) diagrams, Pareto charts, flowcharts, FMEA/PFMEA, and statistical analysis.
  • Partner with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and customer-facing teams to ensure quality issues are clearly understood and that agreed actions are completed on time.
  • Support final inspections and First Article Inspection (FAI) validation to confirm product and process conformance to requirements.
  • Assist with GR&R (Gage Repeatability and Reproducibility) studies and process-variable reporting to improve measurement systems and process stability.
  • Contribute to operator training related to quality standards, procedures, and best practices, and support quality-data analysis to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Maintain the non-conformance reporting system, ensuring accurate entry of data and driving the timely closure of corrective actions.
  • Support internal, customer, and registrar audits, including tracking action items, verifying completion, and confirming the effectiveness of implemented changes.
  • Assist with quality management system requirements related to ISO 9001 and IATF, helping to maintain compliance and support certification activities.
Essential Skills
  • 1 to 2 years of technical experience in manufacturing, engineering, or a quality-related environment.
  • Hands-on experience with quality engineering practices and root cause analysis.
  • Knowledge of 8D problem-solving and root cause corrective-action methodologies.
  • Experience using quality and analysis tools such as Pareto charts, flowcharts, cause-and-effect diagrams, and root cause analysis techniques.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple quality issues and corrective actions simultaneously.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional internal teams and customers.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear reports and customer responses.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel for documentation, reporting, and data analysis.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in a technical, engineering, or related field preferred, but not required.
  • Familiarity with FMEA/PFMEA and statistical analysis tools used in root cause and risk assessment.
  • Experience supporting final inspections, First Article Inspection validation, and GR&R studies.
  • Ability to facilitate MRB meetings and participate in the disposition of non-conforming material.
  • Exposure to ISO 9001 and IATF quality management system requirements.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and customer satisfaction.
  • Interest in career growth into quality leadership, as this role is intended to be a successor to the current manager.
Work Environment

This position is primarily on-site and involves working across two manufacturing plants located in the Pinellas Park and Tyronne Mall (St. Petersburg) areas. The role requires regular travel between these facilities, with a 3/2 schedule across the two locations. Work-from-home may be available when necessary, but most responsibilities are performed on site in a production and engineering environment, collaborating closely with operations, quality, and customer-facing teams.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Pinellas Park, FL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $46.25 - $46.25/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
