Job Description

The Industrial Maintenance Mechanic performs routine and corrective maintenance on machinery, equipment, systems, buildings, and facilities to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient production operations. This role focuses on preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of mechanical systems in a manufacturing environment, helping to minimize downtime and maintain optimal equipment performance.

Responsibilities

  • Perform scheduled mechanical preventive maintenance on all production and facility equipment to reduce downtime and extend equipment life.
  • Inspect machinery and equipment regularly to identify potential issues and take corrective action before failures occur.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mechanical equipment and systems to keep production running efficiently.
  • Repair, replace, or rebuild mechanical components such as conveyors, gear boxes, bearings, and power transmission systems.
  • Perform maintenance and repair work on industrial machinery, industrial ovens, and mobile equipment.
  • Apply knowledge of pneumatics and hydraulics to maintain and repair related systems and components.
  • Read, interpret, and follow blueprints, sketches, and technical drawings, making accurate measurements and calculations to complete jobs correctly.
  • Complete work orders, requisitions, inspection reports, and documentation related to time distribution and material usage.
  • Perform clerical tasks as needed to maintain accurate maintenance records and equipment histories.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment such as mills and lathes to support fabrication and repair activities.
  • Perform welding tasks when needed to support equipment repair and fabrication (welding is considered a plus).
  • Follow machine safety practices, including proper guarding, hot work procedures, and lockout/tagout protocols.
  • Adhere to all safety guidelines and use appropriate personal protective equipment while working in the manufacturing environment.
  • Collaborate with production and other maintenance team members to prioritize tasks and coordinate repairs to minimize disruption.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum 2–3 years of industrial maintenance experience for a B Mechanic or 5+ years of industrial maintenance experience for an A Mechanic.
  • Hands-on experience performing maintenance on industrial machinery, industrial ovens, and mobile equipment.
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve equipment issues efficiently.
  • Proficiency in mechanical repair and maintenance, including preventive maintenance practices.
  • Working knowledge of pneumatics and hydraulics systems and components.
  • Experience with conveyors, gear boxes, bearings, and power transmission systems.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and follow blueprints, sketches, and technical drawings.
  • Ability to accurately perform measurements and calculations required to complete mechanical tasks.
  • Basic computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office for documentation and record-keeping.
  • Experience with machine safety, including guarding, hot work procedures, and lockout/tagout.
  • Ability to complete work orders, inspection reports, and other maintenance documentation in a timely and accurate manner.

Work Environment

This role is based in a manufacturing environment with a Monday through Friday schedule from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM. The facility is not climate controlled, and conditions can be hot or humid. Work areas may have wet, dusty, or uneven surfaces, and employees may be exposed to high noise levels, vibration, and fumes. Personal protective equipment is required, including steel-toe footwear, ear protection, eye protection, gloves, and head protection in designated areas. The environment is hands-on and physically active, requiring awareness of surroundings and adherence to safety protocols at all times.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of West Deptford, NJ.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $74880.00 - $74880.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
