The Shipping and Receiving Clerk verifies, documents, and coordinates all incoming and outgoing shipments in a large, clean manufacturing environment. This role ensures accurate records, proper packaging, and timely movement of materials while operating material-handling equipment and using data entry systems to maintain inventory and shipping information.

Responsibilities
  • Verify and keep accurate records of all incoming and outgoing shipments using bills of lading, invoices, orders, and other shipping documents.
  • Compare identifying information, counts, weights, and measurements of shipments against documentation to confirm accuracy and completeness.
  • Determine the appropriate method of shipment by applying knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates.
  • Prepare items for shipment, including packing, labeling, and scheduling shipments to ensure on-time departure and delivery.
  • Affix shipping labels to packed cartons or stencil shipping information on cartons using stencil equipment.
  • Assemble wooden or cardboard containers or pre-assembled items into containers, using spacers, fillers, and protective padding to prevent damage.
  • Plan and monitor daily shipments to reduce documentation discrepancies and ensure all records are accurate and up to date.
  • Ensure on-time shipment and documentation, including booking follow-up and monitoring shipments from point of origin to point of destination.
  • Receive incoming orders of materials, equipment, and supplies, and accurately enter and maintain related records in the computer system.
  • Verify information on bills of lading, invoices, and orders against the actual shipment to confirm completeness and correctness.
  • Identify and record shortages and damages, report issues promptly, and work to rectify problems.
  • Operate forklift trucks and pallet jacks to safely move materials within the warehouse and manufacturing areas.
  • Support inventory control by accurately recording material movements and maintaining organized storage of goods.
  • Follow established shipping, receiving, and safety procedures to maintain a secure and efficient operation.
Essential Skills
  • At least 1 year of experience in shipping and receiving or a closely related warehouse role.
  • Proficiency in shipping and receiving processes, including verification of documentation such as bills of lading, invoices, and orders.
  • Ability to determine appropriate shipment methods using knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates.
  • Experience operating forklifts and pallet jacks to move materials safely in a warehouse or manufacturing environment.
  • Hands-on experience with packaging and packing, including assembling containers and using protective materials.
  • Data entry skills with the ability to maintain accurate records in computer systems.
  • Strong attention to detail in verifying counts, weights, measurements, and documentation.
  • High school diploma (HS Diploma) required.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with material handling in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Familiarity with inventory processes and record-keeping for materials, equipment, and supplies.
  • Ability to identify and resolve documentation discrepancies related to shipments.
  • Comfort working with stencil equipment and labeling tools for shipping cartons.
  • Organizational skills to plan and monitor daily shipments and prioritize tasks.
  • Basic computer literacy for data entry and shipment tracking.
  • Commitment to following safety procedures when operating material-handling equipment.

Work Environment

The role is based in a very large, clean manufacturing environment that produces interior components for commercial aircraft, including galleys, closets, lavatories, floor panels, class dividers, and sidewalls. Work is performed in a warehouse and production setting with regular use of forklifts, pallet jacks, packaging equipment, and computer systems for data entry and documentation. The environment focuses on organized material flow, adherence to safety procedures, and maintaining a professional appearance appropriate for an industrial manufacturing facility.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Huntington Beach, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
