Job Description

The Digital Media and Technical Publications Specialist captures and edits video of manufacturing and service activities, then transforms that content into clear, accurate standard operating procedures, work instructions, training guides, and technical documentation using AI-powered tools. This role bridges digital media and technical writing to support engineering, manufacturing, product support, and training teams with high-quality instructional materials.

Responsibilities

  • Capture and edit video of manufacturing processes, equipment operation, repairs, assembly procedures, and service activities.
  • Use AI-powered software, including Canvas, to generate standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, training guides, and technical documentation from video content.
  • Create instructional videos and digital training materials for factory employees, field service technicians, and customers.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and process documentation to support manufacturing and service operations.
  • Review, edit, and proofread AI-generated content for technical accuracy, grammar, spelling, clarity, and consistency.
  • Collaborate with Engineering to verify technical content before publication and ensure documentation reflects current product and process specifications.
  • Manage video files, digital assets, and documentation to maintain proper organization, revision control, and accessibility.
  • Support Manufacturing by developing training materials that improve employee onboarding, process consistency, and compliance with established procedures.
  • Supplement installation, operation, maintenance, and service manuals with digital media and AI-generated documentation.
  • Coordinate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Product Support, and Training teams to identify documentation needs and prioritize content development.
  • Maintain document revisions and ensure adherence to company document control procedures and standards.
  • Recommend improvements to documentation processes by leveraging AI and digital technologies to enhance efficiency and quality.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to technical documentation, employee training, and knowledge transfer.

Essential Skills

  • 2–4 years of experience in technical documentation, training, digital media, manufacturing support, or a closely related field.
  • Strong computer and technical aptitude with the ability to quickly learn new software tools and AI applications.
  • Experience with video recording and editing, or a demonstrated ability and willingness to learn these skills.
  • Ability to work with AI-powered software such as Canvas to generate and refine SOPs and technical documentation.
  • Proficiency in managing digital assets and document management, including organization, revision control, and access.
  • Attention to detail in reviewing, editing, and proofreading technical content for accuracy, clarity, grammar, and consistency.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including Engineering, Manufacturing, Product Support, and Training.
  • Comfort working in manufacturing and warehouse environments while following safety procedures and using required PPE.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience using Adobe Illustrator or similar tools to enhance technical documentation and digital media content.
  • Creating instructional videos or e-learning materials for technical or industrial audiences.
  • Familiarity with standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and process documentation in a manufacturing context.
  • Interest in applying AI and digital technologies to improve documentation workflows and training effectiveness.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for explaining complex technical concepts in a clear and accessible way.

Work Environment

This role is primarily performed indoors within warehouse, manufacturing floor, and assembly areas to capture video and other data for internal technical use. The position involves occasional travel within manufacturing facilities and to customer locations to document equipment operation, service procedures, and installation activities. Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required, and strict adherence to company safety procedures is expected when working in manufacturing, testing, or customer production areas. The environment is hands-on, industrial, and dynamic, with regular interaction across production and engineering teams.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Kenner, LA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $50000.00 - $60000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
