The Production Lead directs and oversees employees engaged in manufacturing activities, with a strong focus on training and supervision, maintaining a positive and productive work environment, and ensuring full compliance with safety standards and established policies and procedures within a food manufacturing setting.
Responsibilities
- Lead all production activities performed by employees and maintain a high degree of visibility and accessibility to staff throughout the shift.
- Establish and maintain department standards for productivity, reliability, and accuracy to meet production goals.
- Monitor and report daily production results, including material usage, waste, and equipment downtime.
- Identify and report equipment problems to the appropriate department and production leadership for timely resolution.
- Coordinate closely with Quality Control to maintain quality standards and implement corrective actions to resolve deficiencies.
- Train, motivate, coach, reward, and discipline production employees, and resolve personnel issues in a fair and consistent manner.
- Coordinate with production management on personnel-related matters such as vacation approvals, time card approvals, daily and weekly overtime, hiring, and training.
- Perform required administrative tasks and prepare necessary reports and correspondence related to production activities.
- Assist production management in the development and implementation of policies and procedures, and ensure employees follow all established guidelines.
- Inspect equipment and facilities for proper sanitation and take corrective action when sanitation standards are not met.
- Collaborate with representatives from other departments to resolve production-related issues and support cross-functional communication.
- Maintain a working knowledge of all operating systems and processes relevant to the work area.
- Partner with the Safety function to implement safety programs and deliver all required safety training for employees.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to support efficient and safe production operations.
Essential Skills
- 3–5 years of progressive production experience, preferably in a food manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated production supervision experience, including direct supervision of operators and production staff.
- Strong supervisory skills with the ability to lead, coach, and develop a diverse production team.
- Knowledge of sanitation practices and standards in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to ensure compliance with safety standards and company policies and procedures.
- Competence in monitoring production metrics such as productivity, material usage, waste, and downtime.
- Capability to coordinate with Quality Control and other departments to maintain quality and resolve production issues.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Bilingual Spanish language skills preferred.
- Experience in a food manufacturing environment is strongly preferred.
- Ability to perform administrative tasks, including preparing reports and managing time cards and scheduling.
- Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with production management, Quality Control, Safety, and other departments.
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in a fast-paced production environment.

Work Environment
This role is based in a food manufacturing facility where the Production Lead is present on the production floor throughout the 10:00 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. shift, Monday through Friday. The environment is fast-paced and focused on meeting productivity, reliability, accuracy, sanitation, and safety standards. The position requires regular interaction with production staff, Quality Control, Safety, and other departments, as well as ongoing oversight of equipment, materials, and operating systems. The workplace emphasizes proper sanitation of equipment and facilities, adherence to established policies and procedures, and active participation in safety programs and training.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Permanent position based out of Cerritos, CA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $55000.00 - $65000.00/yr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
