Job Description
This role offers the opportunity to work with advanced CNC lathes and mills to produce complex, high-precision components in a collaborative, growth-oriented environment. You will set up, operate, and program CNC equipment, tackle challenging machining projects, and contribute to continuous improvement across processes and workflows.
Responsibilities- Set up and operate CNC twin spindle lathes and 5-axis CNC mills (horizontal and vertical).
- Run and support a mix of CNC machines, including Kitamura equipment utilizing Fanuc controls.
- Program parts from scratch using Edgecam or similar CAM software such as Mastercam.
- Perform complete machine setups, including tooling selection, tool changes, offsets, and program adjustments.
- Apply G and M codes as needed to optimize programs and machine performance.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine machining requirements.
- Inspect finished parts using appropriate measuring tools to ensure they meet quality standards and customer specifications.
- Produce a combination of custom, prototype, and light production components to tight tolerances, typically ±.001" to ±.005".
- Machine a variety of materials, including steel, stainless steel, and exotic metals.
- Troubleshoot machining and programming challenges in collaboration with the team.
- Contribute ideas to improve processes, workflows, and machining methods using a scientific, data-driven approach.
- Work within dedicated programming sections on both the lathe side and the mill side as needed.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area while following shop procedures.
- Support a stable workload consisting of both custom and production machining projects.
- Proven experience setting up and operating CNC lathes and/or CNC mills.
- Hands-on experience with 5-axis machining and/or twin spindle lathe operations (preferred).
- Ability to create CNC programs from scratch using CAM software such as Edgecam or Mastercam.
- Strong understanding of machining practices, including tooling, feeds, speeds, and cutting strategies.
- Proficiency in blueprint reading and interpreting technical drawings and specifications.
- Experience working with tight tolerances, typically in the range of ±.001" to ±.005".
- Experience machining diverse materials such as steel, stainless steel, and exotic metals.
- Familiarity with Fanuc controls, offsets, and G & M codes on CNC equipment.
- Capability to set up and operate mills and lathes while adjusting programs and tooling to meet part requirements.
- Comfort working on complex, high-precision parts and challenging machining projects.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot machining and programming issues.
- Willingness to learn new machines, technologies, and manufacturing processes.
- Programming experience with Edgecam is ideal; programming experience in Mastercam or similar CAM systems is also highly valued.
- Open to highly skilled setup machinists who may have lighter programming experience but strong machining fundamentals.
- Interest in continuous learning and expanding skill sets in advanced CNC machining and programming.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-focused environment where craftsmanship and quality are prioritized.
- Comfort working with both custom and production machining projects.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality, precise components.

Work EnvironmentThe role is based in a blue-collar shop equipped with very advanced, high-end CNC machines, including dedicated programming sections for both lathe and mill operations. The environment strongly supports the scientific method of manufacturing, encouraging employees to share and implement better ways to perform processes. Standard hours run Monday through Thursday from 6:00 AM to 3:00 PM, with occasional overtime on Fridays from 6:00 AM to 12:00 PM, offering a predictable schedule with some flexibility. The facility focuses on precision machining, collaboration, and open communication, creating a setting where skilled machinists can thrive and continuously refine their craft.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Permanent position based out of Braham, MN.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $70000.00 - $81000.00/yr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
PTO will accrue and if one leaves on good terms, will get paid out on it Profit Sharing that will equate to 4-5 extra dollars an hour 401k Match is at 2% and will raise by 2-3% by end of year
