Job Title: Inventory Specialist

Location: Smyrna, TN

A highly reputable manufacturing company is seeking a detail-oriented Inventory Specialist to support inventory accuracy and production operations in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. In this role, you will perform cycle counts, reconcile inventory discrepancies, maintain accurate inventory records, and assist with production planning activities. The ideal candidate is organized, analytical, and committed to maintaining accurate inventory levels that support operational success.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform daily cycle counts of raw materials, work-in-process (WIP), and finished goods inventory.
  • Investigate and reconcile inventory discrepancies through system research and transaction history review.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records within ERP and inventory management systems.
  • Support production planning by managing work orders, scheduling activities, and adjusting priorities as business needs change.
  • Conduct audits of bills of materials (BOMs), inventory locations, and backflush transactions to ensure system accuracy.
  • Manage end-of-life inventory, including disposition, inventory adjustments, and record maintenance.
  • Identify and resolve inventory and material flow issues, implementing corrective actions when needed.
  • Collaborate with warehouse, production, procurement, and supply chain teams to ensure material availability and operational efficiency.
  • Communicate inventory concerns, discrepancies, and corrective actions to key stakeholders.
  • Assist with receiving, shipping, and material handling activities as needed.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on inventory accuracy, process optimization, and operational excellence.
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of 6 months of experience in inventory control, cycle counting, warehouse operations, manufacturing, or a related field.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Basic computer proficiency with the ability to learn ERP and inventory management systems.
  • Ability to analyze and resolve inventory discrepancies.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience using ERP systems.
  • Previous experience with cycle counting and inventory reconciliation.
  • Forklift certification or experience operating material handling equipment.
  • Experience in shipping, receiving, or warehouse operations.
  • Experience in a manufacturing or high-volume distribution environment.
Work Environment

This position is based in a manufacturing and warehouse setting and requires frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, and material handling. Candidates must be able to lift up to 35 pounds. The work environment may include exposure to machinery, warehouse traffic, varying temperatures, and moderate noise levels. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) must be worn as required.

Schedule

Monday - Thursday

6:00 AM - 4:30 PM

4-Day Work Week (10-Hour Shifts)

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Murfreesboro, TN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
