Material Handler
Job Description
The Material Handler is responsible for safely transporting, storing, and tracking materials throughout the warehouse section of a manufacturing facility. This role operates sit-down or stand-up forklifts, supports shipping activities, and maintains accurate inventory records using a computerized inventory system.
Responsibilities- Operate a sit-down or stand-up forklift to transfer materials safely and efficiently throughout the facility.
- Transport and store materials in designated areas to support production and packaging operations.
- Assist with shipments as needed, including staging, loading, and organizing materials for outbound deliveries.
- Use a computerized inventory system to calculate and record inventory levels.
- Perform regular cycle counts to verify inventory accuracy and reconcile discrepancies.
- Support inventory control processes to ensure materials are correctly labeled, stored, and tracked.
- Collaborate with team members in warehouse, production, and inventory functions to maintain smooth workflow.
- Follow all safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment while working in the plant.
- Complete other duties as assigned by the Team Lead to support overall warehouse and production operations.
- Minimum of 6 years of warehouse or production experience.
- Proven experience operating a sit-down forklift in a fast-paced environment.
- Hands-on inventory control experience, including working with computerized inventory systems.
- Knowledge of material handling practices in a warehouse or manufacturing setting.
- Ability to perform cycle counting to maintain accurate inventory records.
- Capability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
- Commitment to following safety protocols and using appropriate personal protective equipment.
- Ability to work the 3:00 pm – 11:00 pm shift, Monday through Friday.
- Experience working in packaging, production, or manufacturing environments.
- Familiarity with stand-up forklift operation.
- Comfort working in environments where inks and solvents are used.
- Strong attention to detail when handling materials and recording inventory.
- Ability to work collaboratively with warehouse, production, and inventory teams.

Work EnvironmentThis role is based in the warehouse section of a manufacturing facility where inks and solvents are used, resulting in strong odors in the plant. Personal protective equipment such as hairnets, ear plugs, and steel-toe footwear is required. The position follows a Monday through Friday schedule on the 3:00 pm to 11:00 pm shift in a production-oriented environment focused on safety, efficiency, and teamwork.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lenexa, KS.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $21.25 - $22.25/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
