Job Description

This role supports fabrication and manufacturing operations by performing high-quality MIG and TIG welding on sheet metal and structural components in accordance with engineering drawings and welding specifications. You will set up and operate welding equipment, interpret blueprints and weld symbols, and ensure all work meets strict quality and safety standards. The position offers a stable first-shift schedule within a modern, safety-focused production environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform MIG and TIG welding on sheet metal and structural components in accordance with engineering drawings and welding specifications.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, and fabrication drawings to plan and execute welds accurately.
  • Set up welding equipment and adjust parameters based on material type, thickness, and job requirements.
  • Select appropriate filler metals and welding consumables based on material specifications and job needs.
  • Conduct visual weld inspections and use weld gauges and measuring instruments to verify weld quality and dimensional accuracy.
  • Maintain weld quality standards while meeting production schedules and output targets.
  • Troubleshoot welding defects, identify root causes, and make process adjustments to correct issues.
  • Ensure weld quality meets customer and engineering requirements and take corrective action when necessary.
  • Perform fabrication and fit-up work as needed to prepare assemblies for welding.
  • Use tools such as tape measures, grinding equipment, and fitting tools to support fabrication and assembly work.
  • Follow all company safety procedures, quality standards, and welding codes and procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area throughout the shift.
  • Work independently and as part of a team to support production goals in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrate excellent attendance, reliability, and professionalism in day-to-day operations.

Essential Skills

  • 3–5 years of MIG and TIG welding experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
  • Proficiency in MIG and TIG welding on sheet metal and structural steel components.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, and fabrication drawings.
  • Experience setting up welding equipment and selecting proper welding parameters for various materials and thicknesses.
  • Ability to select appropriate filler materials and welding consumables based on job requirements.
  • Knowledge of weld inspection techniques, including visual inspection and the use of weld gauges and measuring instruments.
  • Strong attention to detail, quality, safety, and workmanship.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision and effectively as part of a team.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to work from drawings in a production setting.
  • Excellent attendance and reliability.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • AWS welding certification preferred.
  • Experience welding stainless steel and aluminum.
  • Experience with flux core welding processes.
  • Ability to perform fabrication and fit-up work, including fitting, grinding, and assembly.
  • Knowledge of welding codes and procedures relevant to production and fabrication work.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced production environment with strong craftsmanship standards.
  • Experience using tape measures and other basic fabrication tools.
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing or fabrication facility.

Work Environment

This role is based in a manufacturing and fabrication facility with exposure to welding equipment, sparks, heat, and metal materials throughout the shift. Work involves standing, bending, lifting, fitting, grinding, and welding for extended periods in a fast-paced production environment focused on quality and safety. Personal protective equipment is required, including a welding hood, gloves, eye protection, and safety footwear. The atmosphere is team-oriented, with strong expectations around craftsmanship, adherence to safety and quality procedures, and maintaining a clean, organized work area. The position follows a first-shift schedule of approximately 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

This is a Permanent position based out of Rowlett, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $52000.00 - $58240.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
