Maintenance Technician
Job Description
The Maintenance Technician performs industrial maintenance on production equipment, with a strong focus on hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical systems up to 480V. This role is responsible for diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical issues, reading and interpreting electrical schematics, and ensuring reliable operation of extruder and feeder machines in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on industrial production equipment, including extruder and feeder machines.
- Diagnose and repair electrical systems, including 480V circuits, 3-phase motors, and 220V components.
- Read, interpret, and apply electrical schematics to troubleshoot equipment controls and identify root causes of equipment failures.
- Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems to ensure consistent machine performance.
- Use PLC troubleshooting techniques to identify control-related issues and support equipment uptime.
- Conduct mechanical repairs on production machinery, including adjustments, part replacement, and alignment.
- Respond to equipment breakdowns promptly to minimize downtime and maintain production schedules.
- Perform routine inspections and maintenance repairs to keep machinery in safe and reliable working condition.
- Document maintenance activities, repairs, and parts usage accurately and in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with production teams to understand equipment issues and prioritize maintenance tasks.
- Follow all safety procedures and guidelines while working with electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Support continuous improvement efforts by identifying opportunities to enhance equipment reliability and maintenance processes.
- Hands-on industrial maintenance experience working with production machinery.
- Proficiency with electrical systems, including 480V power, 3-phase motors, and 220V circuits.
- Ability to read, understand, and apply electrical schematics for equipment controls.
- Experience troubleshooting and repairing hydraulic systems.
- Experience troubleshooting and repairing pneumatic systems.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with experience in maintenance repair on industrial equipment.
- Demonstrated troubleshooting skills for electrical, mechanical, and control-related issues.
- Basic knowledge of extruders or similar equipment used in manufacturing.
- Experience with PLC troubleshooting in an industrial environment.
- 1–3 years of experience in industrial maintenance or a closely related field.
- Preferred industrial maintenance degree or formal technical education in maintenance, electrical, or mechanical fields.
- Experience working with extruder and feeder machines in a manufacturing setting.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a maintenance team in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to equipment safety and reliability.
- Effective communication skills for coordinating with production and maintenance colleagues.
- Willingness to work a rotating schedule that includes both day and night hours.

Work EnvironmentThis position is based in a manufacturing plant that produces plastic pellets used in injection molding processes. The facility is not temperature controlled, so conditions can be hot in warmer months and cold in cooler months. The environment is industrial, with heavy machinery such as extruder and feeder equipment running on a continuous production schedule. The maintenance team is experienced and stable, with very low turnover; the most recent hire in the department has been there for six years, and this opening exists due to an internal transfer to another plant rather than attrition. The role follows a rotating shift schedule from 3:00 PM to 3:30 AM on a 2-on, 2-off, 3-on, 3-off pattern, requiring comfort with long shifts and overnight work in a production setting. Appropriate industrial work attire and safety gear are expected to align with plant safety requirements.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $56160.00 - $70720.00/yr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
