Payroll Specialist
Job Description
We are looking for a Payroll Specialist to join a growing organization in the San Joaquin County on a contract basis with the potential for a permanent role. This opportunity is ideal for a payroll specialist who values accuracy, confidentiality, and dependable execution in a busy environment. The role focuses on supporting end-to-end payroll activities, maintaining reliable employee pay data, and helping ensure payroll operations run smoothly and on schedule.
Responsibilities:
• Execute payroll processing for both hourly and salaried employee groups while meeting established deadlines and accuracy standards.
• Audit timesheets, pay rate updates, and employee record changes to confirm payroll data is complete and correct before each payroll cycle.
• Maintain organized payroll documentation and update system records to preserve data accuracy and support internal controls.
• Handle payroll corrections, deductions, and employee profile updates with careful attention to detail.
• Address employee payroll questions in a thorough manner while protecting sensitive compensation information.
• Work closely with HR, accounting, and other internal teams to resolve discrepancies and support efficient payroll operations.
• Help monitor adherence to payroll policies and applicable wage and hour requirements.
• Prepare payroll-related reports and provide administrative support connected to ongoing payroll activities as needed.
• At least 3 years of experience in payroll, accounting, or administrative support roles.
• Hands-on experience with full-cycle payroll processing, including work with large employee populations of 500 or more.
• Familiarity with multi-state payroll practices and related payroll compliance considerations.
• Proficiency with payroll and timekeeping platforms, including experience with ADP Workforce Now.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills and solid command of standard office software.
• High level of accuracy in data entry, record maintenance, and transaction review.
• Ability to manage confidential employee and compensation information with discretion.
• Effective communication, organization, and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced work environment.
