Job Description
The Manufacturing Operator performs hands-on production activities that support Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) workflows, including reagent preparation, equipment setup, in-process checks, and batch documentation. This role follows standard operating procedures (SOPs) and GMP/ISO guidelines to maintain high quality standards, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet production schedules on a 1st shift schedule from 5:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Responsibilities
- Execute routine NGS manufacturing tasks such as buffer and reagent formulation, component assembly, and kit packaging in strict accordance with SOPs and GMP/ISO guidelines.
- Operate, monitor, and maintain production equipment to ensure consistent and reliable performance, including performing basic troubleshooting and routine cleaning.
- Complete accurate and timely batch records, logs, and electronic inventory transactions to support lot release and traceability requirements.
- Perform in-process checks and inspections to verify product quality and compliance with established specifications.
- Handle materials safely, including lifting up to 40 pounds repeatedly and managing inventory within a manufacturing or cleanroom environment.
- Follow Good Documentation Practices to ensure all records are complete, legible, and compliant with regulatory and internal standards.
- Adhere at all times to safety, quality, and compliance requirements, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and cleanroom practices.
- Participate in continuous improvement activities by identifying opportunities to enhance processes, efficiency, and product quality.
- Communicate status updates, issues, and handoffs clearly and effectively to colleagues and cross-functional teams, including across shifts.
- Work effectively in a metrics-focused environment, meeting production goals and contributing to overall operational performance.
- Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team to support successful project and production outcomes.
Essential Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience working in manufacturing, biotechnology, or laboratory environments.
- Ability to follow written procedures and SOPs accurately and consistently.
- Strong attention to detail, reliability, and commitment to high-quality work.
- Basic computer skills, including use of electronic records and inventory systems.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, with emphasis on Excel, Outlook, and Word.
- Strong laboratory mathematical skills to support accurate measurements, calculations, and documentation.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills for clear documentation and effective teamwork.
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Capability to lift up to 40 pounds safely and repeatedly as part of material handling.
- Ability to stand for an 8-hour period and perform repetitive tasks with good manual dexterity.
- Experience working in cleanroom or controlled manufacturing environments.
- Familiarity with SOPs, GMP, and Good Documentation Practices (GDP).
- Proven ability to work in a metrics-focused environment while maintaining quality and compliance.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in production, cleanroom operations, packaging, inventory management, and line assembly.
- Experince in medical device, biotech, or related regulated manufacturing environments.
- Hands-on experience with inspection activities and machine operation in a manufacturing setting.
- Demonstrated ability to operate, monitor, and perform basic maintenance and troubleshooting on production equipment.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective working relationships across teams.
- Demonstrated experience as a team player supporting successful project or production teams.
- Well-organized and detail-oriented approach to managing tasks and documentation.
- Highly motivated and dedicated, with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.

Work Environment
This role is based in a manufacturing setting that supports Next-Generation Sequencing workflows and operates on a 1st shift schedule from 5:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. You work 40 hours per week with the flexibility to perform mandatory overtime as production needs arise. The position requires standing for most of an 8-hour shift, performing repetitive tasks with good manual dexterity, and safely lifting up to 40 pounds as part of routine material handling. Work takes place in a controlled laboratory and cleanroom environment where you use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow cleanroom and GMP/ISO practices. The facility uses production equipment, electronic inventory and record systems, and standard office software such as Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word, all within a metrics-focused, quality-driven manufacturing operation.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
