Job Description

This role focuses on installing and finishing interior wall systems and fixtures in mobile medical units. You will handle a wide range of carpentry tasks, from precise measuring and cutting of materials to installing cabinets, medical equipment, and various fixtures, ensuring each unit is completed to high quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Install interior wall systems in mobile medical units according to custom specifications.
  • Install cabinets, medical equipment, and a variety of fixtures such as soap dispensers, blinds, routers, televisions, medical chairs, and x-ray equipment throughout the mobile unit.
  • Measure and cut materials accurately to meet custom design and build requirements.
  • Use hand and power tools to prepare, modify, and finish materials for installation.
  • Work with fiberboard, drywall, aluminum, and stainless steel components as part of the build and installation process.
  • Perform finish carpentry tasks, including trim work and cabinet installation, to deliver a polished final product.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and schematics to understand project requirements and layout.
  • Assist with framing and general construction tasks related to the structure of the mobile units.
  • Inspect mobile units during the finishing process to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Clean and prepare mobile units as they move through the final stages of production.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area within the shop environment.
  • Collaborate with team members in different production cells to keep projects on schedule.

Essential Skills

  • 3+ years of experience in general construction, drywall installation, finish carpentry, cabinet building, trim work, or home remodeling.
  • Strong carpentry skills, including framing and finish work.
  • Ability to accurately read a tape measure down to at least 1/16 of an inch.
  • Proficiency with hand and power tools, with at least 3+ years of hands-on experience.
  • Ability to provide and effectively use a personal set of hand and power tools.
  • Experience working with materials such as fiberboard, drywall, aluminum, and stainless steel.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
  • High attention to detail to ensure precise measurements, clean finishes, and quality installations.
  • Comfort working in a construction and fabrication environment.
  • Basic understanding of electrical and wiring concepts related to construction projects.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience installing cabinets and custom fixtures in residential or commercial settings.
  • Esperience in home remodeling or similar hands-on construction work.
  • Experience with finish carpentry in a production or shop environment.
  • Familiarity with working in structured production cells or assembly-line style processes.
  • Ability to adapt to minor changes in tasks based on varying customer specifications.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently once tasks are assigned.
  • Reliable work habits and consistency in meeting project timelines.

Work Environment

The role is based in a clean and organized shop environment structured into nine distinct production cells, each dedicated to specific tasks in the build process of mobile medical units. Work in each cell is fairly consistent week to week, with minor adjustments based on different customer specifications, providing both routine and variety. The standard schedule runs from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with occasional early starts (around 5:00 a.m.) when needed to ensure the team can still finish by 3:30 p.m., reflecting a strong focus on maintaining predictable hours and supporting work-life balance. The shop uses a range of construction tools and equipment, including hand and power tools, and involves working with materials such as fiberboard, drywall, aluminum, and stainless steel in a structured, production-oriented setting.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Columbus, OH.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $24.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
