Job Description
The CNC Machinist is primarily responsible for setting up and operating computer numeric controlled production equipment to produce quality parts. This role requires expertise in programming and operating both 3-axis and 5-axis machines, primarily using HAAS CNC equipment and Mastercam software.
Responsibilities
- Set up and run various types of CNC machines including mills and lathes to complete parts to dimensional requirements.
- Load machine control data or parameters, check and make required control settings, and place machine in operation.
- Operate machine in manual mode to make unprogrammed changes using direct measurement.
- Manually enter dimensional data into numerical control console for short-run jobs or during the machining cycle as necessary.
- Perform rework operations similar to initial setups.
- Select and recommend appropriate cutting tools for jobs and sharpen or touch up tools as needed.
- Assist and instruct other numerical control machine operators.
- Write complex programs and understand the functions the machine will accomplish.
- Adjust and troubleshoot machine as needed.
- Perform in-process and final dimensional inspections of close tolerance-machined and formed parts.
- Perform CNC Tube Bending using blueprint requirements and specifications.
- Prioritize jobs to maximize machine productivity and communicate any deviations.
- Follow all company policies and procedures.
Essential Skills
- Experience in CNC setup, programming, and operation with HAAS & DMG MORI machines.
- Proficiency in using Mastercam software.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Strong reasoning ability to carry out detailed written and oral instructions.
- Mathematical skills to perform basic arithmetic operations.
- Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and depth gauges.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- High School Degree or General Education Degree with 5-7 years of related experience.
- Previous experience in aviation, aerospace, and/or manufacturing is desired.
- Certification in machine shop technology, blueprint reading, and programming.
- Ability to read and interpret detailed blueprints, drawings, and work orders.
- Proficiency with manual mills, lathe, drill presses, routers, band saws, belt sanders, table saws, and hydraulic presses.

Work Environment
Work collaboratively in a team of about 10 employees, closely interacting with the engineering team. The standard work hours are Monday to Friday, from 8 am to 4:30 pm, with flexibility as needed.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Greenville, SC.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 - $36.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
